Crossplay Between Xbox PC Store & Steam?

A friend and I had attempted to play together using the invite codes, but it didn't seem to work correctly. Is crossplay between the Microsoft Xbox store and the Steam store?

Of course not. If you own PC port and your friend owns Console port: Crossplay in this way will be impossible. Both of you must have a PC or console port if you want to play together in this game.

Not a console, they're using the Xbox app on the PC to play the game, using Gamepass. My question is if it is cross-compatible between the that and Steam.

Yes, crossplay works. I am playing the game on Linux Steam using Proton, with a friend that uses Windows and the xbox game pass or what it's called.

I've been hosting and he has joined using the codes, no issues at all.
