Crossplay Between Xbox PC Store & Steam?

A friend and I had attempted to play together using the invite codes, but it didn't seem to work correctly. Is crossplay between the Microsoft Xbox store and the Steam store?

Not a console, they're using the Xbox app on the PC to play the game, using Gamepass. My question is if it is cross-compatible between the that and Steam.

Yes, crossplay works. I am playing the game on Linux Steam using Proton, with a friend that uses Windows and the xbox game pass or what it's called.

I've been hosting and he has joined using the codes, no issues at all.
