what are the best/most fun weapons to use and do you unlock guns for leveling up i just got the game and it looks like they are all dlc

Well, what can I say) everything is simple) if you like the machine gun, then take the British Sten) the rifle is also Lee Enfield) the gun is a matter of taste to choose from) the shotgun pistol is good and the British revolver))) Good luck in the game

its all a matter of taste really, the most lethal weapons aren't always the best mosin nagant rifle is really very good once you have all the upgrades as too is the mp44 and the 1911 pistol, these are available to start with, its all about how you want to play the game, do you want to have fun? or just blast everything in site. Admittedly if you are more interested in the DLC weapons then you will have to do a lot of work 'farming zombies' to make the required unlocks for them, all the info is available in game, if you are interested can offer additional advice and tips.

A common misconception is that the DLC weapons are better. They can be, but only in very specific situations. For example, Big Joe's Crossbow is practically useless on Hard, but very handy on Easy due to its potential for area effects... and can be very handy on Nightmare due to its ability to shoot a divine bolt and create a healing puddle.

The base game weapons are actually the best all around. They work well in just about every situation and on every level of difficulty. I honestly don't recommend playing with DLC weapons right out of the gate, or if you must, only choose one and use two base game weapons to balance it out. Each gun fits a different situation and play-style, so you really just need to pick one and fiddle with it to see if you like the feel of the gun.

In my opinion, the DLC weapons can make the game more challenging. They feel like they were crafted with player retention in mind to keep the game from getting too stagnant or boring. The same goes with the fact you have to complete several challenges to unlock them, and some can get quite challenging (i.e the crossbow pistol requires you to kill 5 blind screamers with it), so they are by nature geared towards more advanced players.

As a side note, since when I first started playing this, I didn't know this, there are multiple ways to get upgrade kits to level up your base game weapons. You can get them from: finding them in-game on the base game maps, completing gold level scores and/or completing Z challenges (1 per base game map "set"), and finishing a sticker album page. You won't find any on the DLC maps and none of the DLC maps are required for any of the achievements save for the ones that specifically say, "complete this level."

Personally my first favorite in the game is the 1895 repeater for rifles, secondary is a tie between the blowtorch, trench gun, and the Thompson, as for pistols hands down the Broom handle is my first choice. As for unlocking guns those are DLC unfortunately but when and if you get them just as a warning, To unlock upgrades for them you need to complete a challenge not use kits. Just avoid that #$%^&^%$ flare pistol for a handgun and you will do well Rookie.
