It's a pay to win game with a lot of expensive DLC, but it's also really fun with friends, and pretty good solo.
I wouldn't pay full price for it, get it on sale and if you do play multi, try get some people you know or make some friends here or on Discord, so they will have a vested interest in cooperation.
A lot of the guns are behind a paywall the base game with the free first season pass DLC does give you a few extras but the base game is limited to 4 guns.
Pay to Win means you can buy gear that gives you an advantage over your team mates (via points, kills, etc.) or MP opponents as opposed to earning that gear or winning because you are more skilled at the game.
In this game buying the best weapons will allow you to advance more quickly in level etc, which is extremely unfair, at least to me.
While it's not as bad as in games that are PvP, it's bad enough.
^ >>> " "Pay to Win" is a misnomer - the game is 100% beatable without buying any DLC whatsoever"
Pay to win has nothing to do with having to buy anything to finish the game. That is another story all together.
Single player, not at all. But in the Co-Op if you have better weapons and play for points, kills etc against the other players then you score higher and have a higher body count. Also, the game has a leveling system, so you gain levels faster and thus abilities as well. As I mentioned earlier, it's not as bad as when you are playing a PvP game, but to me it's bad enough. I realize it's just my opinion though and other players don't see it that way.
Yes! I only play solo and i love it no issues of balancing like all other 4 player co-op games, rebellion taught a lesson to the rest with this game.
Wish i could play warhammer vermintide without the atrocious bots...
PS i dont have a team of 4 to play these games and being able to solo the whole thing is just awsome plus its spooktober really play the game if you like zombies.
So i can understand the people pissed off at the pricing... but I can't complain personally. I play solo, it's really bad for my blood pressure, but it delivers in spade if you enjoy sniper type games where you can see the bullet go through 2 enemies at a time in slow-mo.
