Can't beat game with zangetsu mode

I must be missing something. I can't get the moon to pop up with Gabriel. I tried killing him anyway and go to the garden but that moon is behind a building. What's missing?

I don't know about playing as Zangetsu, but normally you'd get the moon to show up in the Gebel boss fight by damaging him to near death without killing him. It can take a while to show up, too. The hardest part is gauging how much damage to do, as well as staying alive once you're done enough damage and are waiting.

Anyway, aftrr cutting the moon in the boss fight, you should be able to find it at the appropriate place in the castle.

The moon that normally appears during the fight against Gebel when playing as Miriam does not show up in Zangetsu mode. This is not a bug/issue with the mode, but rather the removal of that boss fight's significance in the story from Zangetsu mode. Since Gebel is not an integral boss in Zangetsu mode, you can defeat him and progress through the rest of the mode as normal. This is because Zangetsu mode has no story apart from the one cutscene in which he faces off against Miriam following the boss fight against Bael. Here is a video from YouTube that shows this; it's a long video since it goes over all of the boss fights in Zangetsu mode, though the part with Gebel starts at the 2:33 mark and ends at the 3:32 mark:

All of the areas that normally unlock after defeating certain bosses in the main story are unlocked right from the start in Zangetsu mode, allowing players to go through whichever area they want. It can be difficult going through one of the later areas at a low level, but it is doable.

i see no way to get to baal though. You go through a portal where the moon is to get to the last area. that's not possible?

I believe the portal does open when Gebel is defeated since that boss fight usually triggers it due to Miriam cutting the moon in the main story. Though I suspect simply defeating him in Zangetsu mode is all you need to do to open it. The portal has opened for me, though I do not recall when I fought Gebel myself so I cannot really confirm if it opens after beating him with Zangetsu or going through the other bosses in the castle first, including Gebel.

Have you defeated Gebel yet? If so, has the portal opened? If not, have you defeated each of the other bosses? I don't think the order in which you defeat them matters, since the video I linked to in my previous post showed the person playing fighting him after defeating the first Zangetsu fight and Bloodless, with Gebel next and then each of the other bosses after. I broke the sequence too when I played the game, though I don't remember if I went to check if the portal to the later areas was available after I defeated Gebel.

I have and am trying to find more bosses. maybe i'm missing one? definitely different requirements to do this.....

Can you list the bosses you have defeated so far? Try using the list given in the description of the video I linked to determine which bosses you've beaten and which one you have yet to fight. You should be able to figure out which ones you're missing. The only boss not listed is the first boss, Vepar, though this boss always has to be defeated in order to access the rest of the game which is why I wouldn't count Vepar in your list.

Also, be sure to periodically check the room where the portal to the Den of Behemoths appears. If you have already done everything there is to do in the castle and have defeated all the bosses there, the portal should be active. But if it still isn't, I would suggest leaving this thread open so other people might be able to help. There is also a Bug Report thread you could check and find help on too.

So basically this is like Richter (or Maria for the Saturn) mode in Symphony of the Night. I'm doing Maria mode in my Saturn and I just remembered this. Buy you still gain levels with Zangetsu?

really wish there was more to it like food and stuff....playing without any other elements kinda sucks lol
