But technical difficulties got the better of them, at least for the time being. Switch version is extremely messed up and it needs lots of work to function properly, as intended... Consoles have huge delay and approval procedures for patches and added content (the iga's backpack for instance, which adds minimum content to the base game, took a while to implement and in some consoles still isn't a thing, yet). And other stuff.
Don't hold your breath... Even the co-op tag was removed recently, from the steam store entry of the game. Nothing is certain, until the next developer's update. Those used to come monthly, but November had been plagued by complete silence... Game is great, but incomplete, alas.
got enough dead games already
We don't grow games on trees you know. This stuff is very difficult and expensive to produce. A single game can easily take over 3 years even with a fully staffed team.
The money was hurled in, upfront! "Expensive", by no means, applies over to this title, here. Is no excuse. Okay, they messed up, they need to fix things first; but not even an estimated release window? That's something to really worry over, now.
It doesn’t matter how much money is thrown at them. Games are still expensive in the form of time investment, and having to get the teams to create the game. Money won’t make the game for them, just buy the devs food.
Learn some patience. They already have the money, sure, but they still need time to write the code, draw art, make music, playtest, etc. Even DLC requires this stuff.
Patience is. But scedule is not. Even if they have to delay more, developer feed used to come on a monthly basis. And posts are almost abstract, devoid of detail or even, "estimations". Will... (not even is going to -be implemented-), soon, etc.
Nobody blames workload, or even, mistakes. Many blame obscurity, instead. Trasparency is the best friend of the client and what keeps backers/buyers reassured. I wouldn't have a problem, being able to play as Zangetsu at 2021, but i have a problem with the advertising/promotion side of the project. What does "soon" mean, or hopes to accomplish? Be honest and straighforward, or don't.
Besides, it's them who wrote in steam store page: "Expect a worryingly large amount of announcements and updates, everything from updating the look of this Steam page to the game in general. It's going to be one wild ride." Where's that? They even started skipping montly updates, lately!
Switch version were launched and patched.
I do not believe this game is dead.
I bought it on sale for 32$. I played for around 40 hours. When there will be DLC's ill likely play few times as much.
In dark scenario 40$ for 40 hours doesnt seem like tragic.
Bad?
Sure.
Tragic?
No.
If new content will get me to 60th hour I will say it was worth 32$.
If new content will get me to 72 hours I'll say its worth 40$.
Given that even I started to doubt these DLC's I would say game should be purchased only during sale now.

I don't really get this comment. I think I get what you're trying to say, but I would only use the term "dead game" for abandoned multiplayer games, wich this game really isn't.
Would you say then that Symphony of the Night, Super Mario World or whatever single player games released back then were dead games the minute they were finished by the developers?
I have nothing to say about the price tag, and wether you buy the game or not is of course entirely up to you. All I have to say is I personally don't regret a penny or the time I've spent on the game, regardless of wether the DLCs come out or not, because the core game is enjoyable and fun.
Feel like I also have to throw this in here before someone starts thinking I'm defending their lack of updates and potential abandonment of the DLCs, wich I am not. I would be seriously annoyed if I was a backer though, no arguing there.
