Linux and Mac cancelled because "middleware"
So tired of this excuse. Wondering what it could be. Probably denuvo. I am not a backer, but I sincerely hope Linux and Mac were not one of the promises pitched with the crowdfunding. Seen that happen so many times now.

edit: just looked at the kickstarter, and yep, Linux and Mac were promised, and now cancelled. Nice job.

edit 2: no denuvo.

And no refund.

I am confused. Almost two years delay, and dropping support of some of platforms. Why devs manage to develop the games in multiplatforms from the start, instead of focusing one or two then considering to port to others.

Yes, I find this part especially worrying: I can only think that the backer money has been spent.

Edit: For the record, I backed this for PC and PS4 versions.

At the moment, I can't think of any other "middleware" which does not support Mac and/or Linux. So, yeah: probably Denuvo.

I'm pretty p*ssed. I backed the game only because Mac support had been promised.

Never kickstart/gofund/crowdfunding unless you understand that YOU ARE DONATING, NOT PRE-ORDERING.
I know, it's F up, but that is the way it is.

That's not what Kickstarter says they do, and it's not just "F up" - it's thievery.

WOW, is this true?! It is just criminal. I funded this because native GNU/Linux support was promissed. Without this there is no use for this game and I definitely want my money back.

That's not actually true: We are neither donating or pre-ordering. What we are doing is contributing funds to a project in the expectation that we'll receive goods for those funds at a later date, which is closer to pre-ordering than donating, though there is a degree of risk involved.

I agree.

While I'm personally not affected by this since I'll be playing on PC, it's a scummy thing to do to your customers. A refund should be offered.

Dropping support for these OSes sucks.
It will also suck if they integrate Denuvo, which doesn’t really make sense in this case, but anyway.

Linux and MacOS are Operating Systems which run on, wait for it, PCs.
Windows =/= PC
One is an OS and the other a machine.
Also, the overpriced garbage (desktops, laptops) which Apple spews out are also PCs.

I backed this game with the 300$ Tier.. both my platforms are still supported ( PC/Steam and Nintendo Switch ) i feel bad for people who backed the game and their platforms stop being supported... i know its not the same but you can still play the game, i have a friend who uses Linux and he told me he is just going to use Wine.. i know its not the same but you still have that option.. not defending the Devs but its not like you wont get a product that you cant use

lets hope its not.. if it turns out to be a good game i want as many people to be able to play it

Are they going to pull a 2Dark and add Denuvo on a small, indie, kickstarted game? I hope i don't have to remember people how bad it turned out for that game...

these famous creators and developers have money. they millions in the bank. maybe if it was their own money being spent. they would complete the game, or never even attempt this delaying nonsense. I am starting to see why the publishers have gotten tired of doing buisness with some of these creators. a lot of there games are a copy and paste from games that were already in development from there past work under a publisher. these kickstarters and croud fund me projects are just a buch of people pulling a "DASH AND DINE"

mainly this is just adding to the pile of kickstarter campaigns that ended up burning backers one way or another. crowdfunding is starting to become a dirty word after so many lofty, broken promises and sudden bait and switch tactics. nobody knows yet if denuvo is coming, but everyone knows that anyone who put money in because their preferred (or only) platform would be supported. now they basically have nothing unless they switch operating systems. Most people who use Linux tend to be very principled people, and they aren't likely to install Windows or buy a Mac just to play the game. They'll pass it up before that. Which means they threw their money in for nothing.

It's not the end of the world, but it's definitely going to leave a mark of doubt on everyone who got let down. I personally would never risk money on a crowdfunding campaign after the number of scams and broken promises I've witnessed. I'm sure I'm not alone in that sentiment. I can't even bring myself to play curse of the moon now after hearing about this letdown, and I didn't even back it, because I already expect disappointment from past experiences.

Windows PC and consoles.... better than nothing. :cozycastondeath:

i understand why the vita game copy got cancelled.. a dead platform is a dead platform.. but i dont know why the linux copy is fully cancelled and not just delayed till it could be ported later.. same with OS X.
