Not interested in co-op so no idea.

None of the extra playable characters have been confirmed but the samurai guy, old wizard man and even the hot church lady are suspected.

I think you're right. There may be even more playable characters than currently listed, if things continue to develop. Zangetsu is definitely a fan favorite, but I expect that Gebal is also going to be playable in something of a new-game plus type mode, as well as possibly Jannes (or whatever the name of the young, blonde bespeticaled Alchemist is. The "old wizard" in Curse of the Moon was his predecessor.

Zangetsu is the protagonist of Curse of the Moon, and is displayed to have have a way too fleshed out movelist is his boss fight to simply be an npc.

now it says online coop. if you can play the entire game with a buddy of yours, THAT would be a reason for me to buy upon release.

For mine, I'd need co-op (ideally local; online is okay), and well as another female protagonist that more tickles my fancy that the default char..
