Shard grade and rank
I just wanted to know more about how grade and rank affect a shards power. I know that rank is the level of the shard, and grade is how many copies of that shard you have.

Is there a max rank and grade? How many copies of a shard can I have before I should start selling them?

My cerulean splash is grade 9. I don't know if that's because the max grade is 9, or if I just have 9 copies.

Grade is how many shards you have and increases the damage for each one gained up to 9.

Rank increase the effect such as number of bullets, larger blast zone, stay longer once cast and caps at 9.

What I have found in the Internet is that max rank and grade is 9 and grade affects the attack power, the more you have, the stronger the fragment

Ok, so keep 9 shards, sell the rest. Assuming you can carry more than 9 of a shard.

Just realised if you have 9 you ain't going to find more. So probably best only to keep 6 or 7, except for the shards you're using.

Shards that don't actually deal damage will instead have whatever effect they have become more powerful. So a Shard that gives you a temporary buff will make that Buff higher, and one that increases a Resistance will increase it further.

You can't hold more than 9 copies of a shard.

Also just a side note, if you get any passive shards to 9/9. Then they become permanent and can be turned on at will (and stacked with themselves if you equip the 9/9 shard)

Close, you only need the Rank at 9.

Really? Only need rank to 9? Interesting, I thought it required both.
Good to know!

Not true, you need them both to be 9/9 rank alone will not make them permanent.
You get permanent effects from shards that are GRADE ONE as long as they've been upgraded to RANK 9. Source: that's my Regeneration shard right now.

Had to double check my stats and all 3 of my elemental ones (Fire/Ice/Thunder) were level 1/2 at rank 9 and they are perm.

However Passive shards upgraded to Rank 9 and not equipped still apply the grade bonus up to the normal max grade. Making it just as important to grade up the passives you are not going to have in the slot as it is the one you are going to actually use.
