Any other way to get dark matter other than cooking?

Dark Elementals in one of the labs. I forgot which, but they drop it. I farmed up 4 in case if I needed it.

There's a monster that can drop it. I'll turn the game back on so I can find it.
I got the drop and then dismantled it so I could craft one, then bought the stupid things.
Dark Elementals in the Secret Sorcery Lab can drop it. Only 4%, though. so have fun.

just do it in reverse. take a weapon that you have that required gold to make and dismantle it. then dismantle the gold. then craft the gold. now you can buy gold. craft your weapon again if you need to.

buy gold. dismantle it for 10 dark matter.

About the Gold (material), I just got several Gold by opening chests at the Underground Desert.

You can farm from the Darkness Elementals, thought the drop rate is 1%.
