8-Bit Nightmare (material)

Can you only get one of these per run of the game? I've already went through the 8-bit nightmare like 5 times and gained nothing from it, only the first time.

The boss at the end has a small chance of dropping the material.

The boss has a tiny (like 4%) chance to drop one. Do what I did. Equip all your luck gear and the pickpocket passive shard. The faster hitting the weapon you use, the better. I used a boot type. I got one of the items to drop from pickpocket 2 in 3 runs. I gathered 8 of them, so its a pretty stable way to farm.
Actually, that's the 'best' way to farm any of the items that drop from the 'hidden' bosses. The 8-bit, as well as the three key bosses.
If you use this route, make sure to grind out grade 9 dullaheads. They don't hit all that hard if you aren't in int gear, so they'll add lots of pickpocket possible hits.

There's a second guaranteed 8 bit nightmare from the food quest. It's something like the last or second last recipe though.

I was asking about the item called "8-bit Nightmare", which drops after clearing the 8-bit dungeon.

Better question (for me) what do you do with the book afterward?

1.the boss can drop it
2.its a reward for one of the food quests
3. the boss can drop it from pickpocket shard
4.you use it to craft the ultimate version of the 8 bit coin weapons weapons. they each can be upgraded twice with the second upgrade requiring an 8 bit nghtmare

Weapon that need 8-bit coins to craft can be enhanced with 16-bit coin and later 32-bit coin + 8-bit nightmare to max it.
