Welcome company
Beast guardian (For blocking ice projectiles during time stop)
Ruinous rood (spam these from a distance, it's the boomerang shard from the Revenant optional boss)
Greatsword expertise (Or weapon of your choice)
Familiar: Dantalion (you may switch to another familiar if your ATK is boosted)
At the start of the fight, immediately use swordfish technique to lower his CON (down+down+X), then switch to your weapon of choice. Some youtube video suggests spamming a fully upgrading shovel knight is viable.
Most of his attacks resemble Gebel except for his time stop.
Whenever he is about to do that, go to the bottom left or bottom right and squat. Activate beast guardian before the time resume to block incoming icicle projectile.
When about half of his HP gone, he will start shape shifting but the most dangerous is still his blood sucking move. He won't be able to drain your blood if you are jumping.
As for equipment, anything that increase attack power seems better than crit rate. I used greatword the entire game and had durandal at that point. Just normal slash, some jumping around and relying on brute force. The greatsword has longer reach than OD's weapon. No invert was used the entire fight. His weakness is light.
- maxed out Chisel shard (dropped by the carpenter)
- maxed out Augment INT shard
- any equipment that pumps up INT including his own book
- as many ether and max ether as you can carry
Hold R2 on him, avoid the occasional attacks he somehow manages to pull off, refill MP/HP when low, continue until he's dead.
For the za warudo attack, when he's about to cast it run to one of the corners of the map and crouch. Depending on which corner you will either take only one hit or none at all.
Massive spoiler below
Go back to OD's room once you beat him, there's something new related to the books. You now have a REALLY HUGE ADVANTAGE FOR THE REST OF THE GAME
