Any of the pets useful in combat?
The sword rarely attacks even at grade 7, rank 5, level 21.
The fairy's only attack takes so long to activate she can only hit stationary targets...for 20 even at rank 4, grade 9, level 24.
I can't even GET the knight to attack. It just floats behind me, even when I'm letting enemies live just to try to make it attack. And since it came out of a sculpture, its still stuck at rank 1.
The dullahead actually fights. But only one attack per 30 seconds or so. And at grade 9, with 5 of them, they can finally kill one enemy per attack run. Even if it only takes one of them, they all come back and reset their timer.
I haven't even tried the book yet.
Are any of the pets actually valuable for combat? I just started using the fairy for the panacea.

The book and knight are the only pets I haven't ground grades for yet.
The knight for obvious reasons stated. The book because I was having 'fun' in the room full of spikes at the time. I'll have to go back and farm it if anyone gives me a reason to.
I also only just killed the twin dragons. So if there's another pet, please tell me.

The book sometimes gives you a strength buff and I've found that better than any of the others. But I'm still using Rhava at the 8th boss so that slight damage per hit makes a big difference to me.

Sliver knight is good he can nullify enemy attack giving you room to dodge or attack.

The sword is great as it gives you a pretty high damage sword early on.

I'm a grinder. So I ground out the gold for a 16-bit coin after finding the 8-bit coin in the dungeon. The 16-bit sword I'm using is much stronger than the sword pet sword.

The book buffs you? Does it stack with the 'stat boost' shard that I got to grade 9? Can't raise the rank yet, because I haven't found anything that drops diamonds yet.

It'd help if we could see the stats of the familiars. Or at least leveling progress.

In SOTN the sword ended up absolutely beastly if you leveled it enough. It never stopped attacking, and could literally kill bosses by itself. The new one feels like a downgrade.

Keep in mind that sword needs sword fragments to rank up and become truly beastly. I haven't had any luck finding them, but silver knight improved dramatically with rank increases, as did Caraboose. I've little doubt a rank 9 sword is a monster.

My sword requires sword fragments AND adamantite now. You get the fragments, ironically, from the flying sword that gives you the shard.
Not sure where to get adamantite, yet. The only bit I've gotten was from a chest.

well the sword specifically physically changes appearance at certain points when it levels up and when it does the frequency of the attacks and the accuracy of them ramp up. I beleive the first change is at level 25? I was playing with it and all of the sudden it just de summoned itself and then resummoned itself but with more crystal flowers motif on it. I noticed an immediate increse in its effectiveness.

The book is decent, if only for the STR buff it gives you, and the knight can be useful since it can sometimes deflect projectiles and at higher levels it's damage output is decent. I've also heard that the fairy can help uncover secrets.

Book is the best, Lightsaber + Thunder Ring + Crit ring is beast with the buff (About 80% uptime honestly)

My sword familiar rank 7 grade 9 is doing 50-80 dmg at lvl 25+ when he finally manages to get a hit before I kill the enemy, I will end up spending an hour to farm book shards.
Riger82 Jun 19, 2019 @ 1:20pm
I farmed the book shards and pages in about 20 minutes. I'm using the stone mask, apron, bunny scarf, and pirate hat.
I'm still missing an item to make the last bunny piece :( Can anyone tell me where to get the 'durable' piece (i forget what its called, and i'm farming monkeys in the library right now for the pickpocket passive shard).
Edit: I forgot, I'm also using the library book, and I've eaten at least 8-10 luck stat worth of food. My luck is currently 37. Cuts down a lot on the grinding.

The fairy thing, Carabosse, can use special healing items on you.

None of the other ones matter much so far considering you can max out Flame Cannon just before you get the double jump and just point blank shotgun baddies with it for 200+ damage.

FWIW the lone harpy-like monster in a room on its own will drop rubies.

The Fairy can also find hidden walls for you and sing a duet at the piano for an achievement.
