Wow that is lame... oh well guess i will wait till he is available to buy this game if he is indeed FREE and voiced by David Hayter.
(don't have much interest in Rose titt Tat girl Soma knockoff)

Hearing nothing but good things about this game.

The character DLC, as well as any other DLC that is part of the original stretch goals has been confrimed by ArtPlay and 505 Games as free several times. Zangetsu is also voiced by David Hayter.

However, you'll still have to play "Rose titt Tat girl Soma knockoff" to unlock Zangetsu once he is implemented, so you probably should skip this game if you can't stomach female main protagonists.

She seems more inspired by Shanoa from Order of Ecclesia. I been getting a Order of Ecclesia feel from this game.

Right good point i barely played as either of them most of my knowledge of them comes from Castlevania HD, (which i'm sure she was nerfed like everyone else besides the mighty god king Soma....she was in Judgement but i didn't do the DS linkup to unlock her)

Ya i wasn't interested in her game or using her in Castlevania HD... why does she even come close to comparing to Saturn Maria?!?
(i've had more fun playing as Saturn Maria than i dare say Richter or Alucard since her moveset was so versatile)

I think Maria is just you having very fond memories or maybe it's due to her being in Symphony of the Night. Her move set was limited but was built around the game as a sub character. Shanoa is a main character who whole game was built around her, unlike Maria who was the other way around. Shanoa had a much larger tool kit due to all the different glyph she can absorb and use.

Fond memories of the broken sub par Saturn Version with only 2 new small areas?!?
Don't think so, took forever to get a working Saturn with only Japanese copies of Symphony of the Night and the Code Breaker to play region locked games, was a giant pain in the asss only thing that made me not regret it was Saturn Maria.
Limited? she had more moves than Richter and Alucard....

Saturn Maria uses Belmont sub items but better (like triple knives) with all he animal spells used like Alucards input spells.
Just her flying kick and flying multi directional uppercut made her fun despite everything else she has with her THREE attack buttons.
(She just can't equip weapons or use Belmont item Crushes)

Maybe you are thinking of Dracula X Chronicles PSP Maria.. ya she was garbage used the animals instead of regular sub weapons and was nerfed all around.....

Ya so Shanoa absorbs stuff like Soma is that it?
(She could swing like Julius in HD?)
Let me guess only magic and no hearts when the first GBA Circle of the Moon had both....

Just went through Symphony of the Night with her within the year her excellence is fresh in my mind with Magic AND Hearts not all moves draining the same pool.

You are the definition of Crap fanboy of castlevania games. You do realize Iggy aka Koji Igarashi worked on those previous games you love, he made this through a succesful kickstarter and he OBVIOUSLY can't use the assets or characters because they are COPYRIGHTED.

Also you can play as maria in the new castlevania symphony of the night and rondo of blood pack on the PS4, they added in maria the only saturn feature they added in, however that's not koji's decision as he no longer works with konami, and that was them. They literally are quoted for saying his game doesn't have a future, and it's a relic of the past that no one cares about.

Wow, moans about using main characters in the game to unlock other characters, why even bother playing the game and moan about it then?

Order of Ecclesia is a really good game, and shanoa has a very versatile moveset and abilities.

But I guess you wouldn't know about any of that having not played that game, and I guess it was such a huge chore for you to play "fagula"

Also idiot about Dawn of sorrow you can get a soul later on that allows you to switch to a second weapon set on the fly, Also I would think the reason they got rid of the being able to have 2 weapons equipped at once, was because it was quite overpowered and made the game way too easy with weapons you can equip.

To make up for that, that's where the soul system comes in, which alot of those souls if you farm them wind up becoming really powerful and once again make the game easy.

Shanoa from order of Ecclesia compares and topples maria, because did Maria defeat Dracula by herself? Oh that's right she didn't.

Lastly, Maria's move set is versatile? Wow if you WOULD actually play Shanoa's game you'd see she's alot more VERSATILE. Maria uses familars, you do realize alucard has those, and can also run miles around maria, he's a freaking vampire, Richter is alot harder to use and is also versatile, he has alot of powerful sub weapons and draws power on them and can do unique abilities, he is the only Belmont to do that plus he is the only Belmont to fully utilize martial arts techniques.

God I love people that don't take the time to better understand these games, and crap all over it, with crappy opinons, sounds like you're better off not playing this game or any of the castlevanias if the only interesting character and one you want to really play is maria.

Metroid's my favorite series, and yes I'm not a huge fan of metroid other m, especially with the way they did samus, I find it very stupid to say you can "stomach" them though, if it's causing you that much distress once again that series is not for you.

Also yes, when you moan about playing a female character, it comes off as a little sexist//mysoginistic.

i already have a game beaten all unlocked system file downloaded ready to go,
so speak for yourself... YOU had to beat the game as her first not me.

(you also had to beat the entire game as Count Fagula to play Alucard and Julius mode which i also avoided doing since i don't care for RNG soul capturing mechanics when those buttons could be used for more than 1 weapon equipped at a time in a game with such a huge variety.)

Even Castlevania HD, that shallow cash grab let you at least equip 2 weapons at once...

Nice try trying to make me look sexist or misogynistic tho, when i want to play as a female Castlevania protag i will play as the vastly superior Saturn Maria that pissses excellence compared to some Soma knockoff thanks.
(talking to me like i'm some new gen gamer or something that hasn't %100 most Classic Metroidvanias)

or i'll just play as Samus which i have "stomached" every single time except Other M when they turned her into a tool a whiny useless waiting for a mans orders to use even her Varia Suit which isn't a weapon and forced you to go into dangerously heated areas when you never did so before without the right equipement.

So, you base your entire opinion on Miriam on a game you haven't played (or did you watch Letsplays?).

Considering weapons, once you get the first shortcut shards, you can not only easily switch weapons, you can easily switch up to eight (in NG+, only four in NG) full equipment/shard sets. So, yes, you'll have plenty of methods to quickly and easily change setups once you get the shortcut shards. If you've played the game, you'd know it.

Same with movement options, which do get quite expanded on Miriam in the later game, but that is partially due to the RPG mechanics in the Igavanias.

If anything, she is an Alucard knockoff, though you'll probably compare her to Soma because of the similarity of the Soul and Shard mechanics.

As for mysoginist/sexists, that is how you came across in your first post, even if you are not. I, for one, have given Miriam a chance and most of the time when playing I don't think "Oh, I'm playing a woman!" or "I'm playing a knockoff character!", but rather "How can I solve this next obstacle!", at least if the gameplay is as engaging as it is in this game. Many apparently don't seem to do that, but rather seem to think about what they play about all the time. Again, you did come across as someone like that in the post, at least to me.

I do, however, agree on Samus depiction in Other: M, which was quite infuriating to me, especially that she still didn't activate her full suit powers, after she found out that there is not only a traitor/saboteur with the Federation detachment, but also that Adam might be the one. At that moment an accomplished bounty hunter like Samus would have done that. Also, let's not speak about the scene where Adam stuns her through her suit and how her suit is apparently tied to her mental state in that game .*sigh*

Maybe this might be more to your liking. You start off as Zangetsu.

Speaking as someone who also tracked down a copy of Nocturne in the Moonlight: Maria was the only good thing about that port. Playing it was actively painful; the Saturn just wasn't made to handle it.

She was a glass cannon, but if you took the time to master her spells she was an invincible goddess. If the game had multiplayer she would have been nerfed back to the Stone age.

That said? Over the years I've gone back many times to play SotN. Never once have I been tempted to put NitM back in the machine after beating the thing with Maria once. It was agony even with the double speed boots.

The PSP version of Maria was a completely different character, different attacks, different everything really (including her sprites). I don't think Iga-san had much input on NitM. If he had I don't think she would have been totally revamped as she was.

If NitM is really your prefered version of SotN...you sir, are a masochist of the first order. Might I recommend the old PS1 game Chronicles of the Sword? You might just have the patience to finish it.

How can you say you're not interested in Miriam but then say you've heard nothing but good stuff about this game, which is centered around Miriam. Playing as Zangetsu might really suck. It could be akin to Richter on SotN where you don't get a whole lot and is only fun for a bit.

Rondo of Blood, Dracula X Chronicles.
(i understand those seconds must have lasted years for you while you were waiting to get REKT)

Also imagine how good Maria would be if she wasn't held back by the garbage Saturn?
(even with a giant handicap she's still the superior character)

All this lack of recognition of the Excellence that is Saturn Maria is really starting to make me think no one here knows what they talking about....

Go with Saturn Maria Brah
