Update: Yes they ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ did. The skill is a shard drop called Aqua Stream, and you get it from a monster named Deeseama.
After you use the blood drain skill from the vampire boss to drain the bloody fountain, there should be a new area available underneath. A little ways in should be a body of water with a bridge over it. Deeseama is the jellyfish monster, and it gives you an ability that allows you to propel yourself underwater. There is also a swimming horse monster with it that gives you an ability that speeds up your underwater movement. You won't be able to loot underwater chests at first until you've obtained a skill from a desert area. Unlike Aqua Stream, the desert area skill is hard to miss.
Dude, I feel you on that. I spent hours, like literal -hours-, roaming the castle looking for doors I missed and attacking walls and filling out my monster drops. Not my finest hour(s), but from the looks of it, I'm not alone there.
Same. No one should apologize for getting stuck or not finding the right "power." This game is uh, obscure as hell at times.
I did already mention that in this thread, ("You won't be able to loot underwater chests at first until you've obtained a skill from a desert area. Unlike Aqua Stream, the desert area skill is hard to miss") but not the shard name or the exact location in the desert area, so thanks!
