Bug with Zangetsuto

I have the Zangetsuto after getting it from the Oriental lab.
However I the moon in Gebel's boss fight room is still yellow and I can't slice it.

It's supposed to be red like in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mgx3e1PxukI

Am I missing something or is the game just buggy?

I very clearly have Zangetsuto equipped and slashing at the moon does nothing.

Fight Gebel like normal, after a while the moon turns red and u can slash it

I still can't slash it even when it's red. what am i missing

bumping this thread back to life, as I am also unable to 'slash the moon' when it is red, with the Zangetsuto.
If I figure out something I'm doing wrong, I'll update this thread.

must've just been a momentary bug. I've noticed sometimes hitboxes (for items, too) just kind of disappear, but that's usually during '3D' areas
