Should I be in hidden desert now?
I thought I'm going through this in the right order, but i'm not sure. I can't think of where else to go. I just killed bloodless and so I gained access to the underwater and now got to the hidden desert, but the difficulty has taken a hell of a spike. I can't think of where else to go, but i'm struggling to survive in this place. i have to trek all the way past the water each time and it's getting quite demoralising. Is there somewhere else i can get to that I should be doing first?

there's a teleport room in the right-ish area of the underground desert

yes you're supposed to be here - w -

protips: bring poison cures (you get a bunch from chests here too), ice spells, eat MP restore rate boosting food if you haven't made any yet (unless you wanna have a harder time), and maybe consider a different weapon if you're having difficulties with your current one

ok thanks.
damn, I'm a bit dismayed at the difficulty spike. I've having to grind to get stronger because these damn 'amy' ghosts and the stupid fire breathing lions.. they are such a pain in hte backside and they hit HARD.

If you use a greatsword you can hit them at distance (huge radius) or a decent gun will pop them too. On a side note Amys are good for farming the stuff you need to disassemble.

oh thanks for the tip!
I'm a very focused type of player, I usually stick to one thing and hone my skills there. I've never used greatswords, generally stuck with sword or club. I'll have to give it a try.

Also, if you aren't using Welcome Company (the Poltergeist shard), this is definitely the sort of situation to use it in. It's kind of wildly OP in general but this is really the intended sort of use case. Having a bunch of paintings spinning around you makes annoying flying enemies a lot less threatening.

ah, that is a very good tip, thanks very much! I'll give that a go!
I've gotten pretty good at hitting then with hte sword, at this point, althoguh it is still a bit tricky, but i'll definitely try that i'm sure it'll be a cakewalk.

The red flying sword is a pretty safe bet if guns aren't your bang. You can attack the wisps and fire lions out of their range without needing special ammo.

You're also post midway game so the game treats you as having access to all the farming you haven't done yet. Max your character.

I actually found the Inferno Cavern way harder. The desert is rough, but not as much so. Flying Edge/Oracle Sword and Welcome Company as mentioned make a big difference, as does getting your MP regeneration rate up from ignoring good nutrition and eating lots of dessert.

You may have more fun sticking to your guns though. (not literally) Things get silly easy once you figure out the OP stuff.

i'm using good company, and silver knight. I'll stick to my sword because I just enjoy the fine timing of it. i've increased some levels and got my evil eyes and now i got my detective shard up to max. now I'm gonna go do the search for secrets thing. there's probably a ton i've missed .
i had also been holding back on my foods in order to save my ingredients for susies missions, but i decided to just go ahead and make what I can because i want to get my luck stat up.
thanks for the additional tips :)
you guys rock.

I find that most of the quests are best saved for the end game. You can try to figure stuff out and hoard your resources early, or you can wait and just run around the castle at lightspeed making the enemies drop all the ingredients like pinatas and cook up everything. Several of her dishes require things it's flat impossible to cook until near end game anyway due to soy sauce apparently not existing in Europe at all.
