Aegis Plate not in chest/inventory

Been stuck for a for a few days exploring every corner of the castle after getting invert. The twin dragon tower was the first place I went to, got the chest, and I don't remember what came out--I hadn't discovered the spike trap on the way to another area, so it may not have occurred to me that the Aegis Plate was important, or it might not have come out at all. That was a few days ago, so I've forgotten and overwritten the save many times.



Crucially, the Aegis Plate isn't in my inventory, in my archive, it's not craftable and it's not purchasable, and the chest is still open.



I'm aware of the silver bromide bug on consoles, but the silver bromide worked fine for me on my PC. What's the deal?

Well it doesn't seem like you can sell the armor, so I guess that's not what happened. That's pretty bizarre. Are you absolutely sure that you have the right chest? If so, you only really need the armor for one bit, so you can use cheat engine or something to get through that one part and bypass the need for the armor.

It might be useful in other places, but you can get through those areas without it. As it is an important item you can't really get rid of it. Are you sure you checked both of the exterior chests at dragon towers?

That solved it for me--in the guides I read, it just said the chest on the twin dragon spire, which I had opened I didn't realize there was one outside of the dragon spire. For whatever reason, that part of the map showed uncovered so I had no reason to suspect it.
