What's obvious to one may not be so obvious to another.
"Yeah, sure, IGA...you can make another Castlevania game when pigs fly or hell freezes over - whichever happens first."
IGA is pretty big on Western folklore and stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if it was intentional.
His best 'Take That!' to Konami is probably the quest to avenge 'Richter the ruffian' by defeating a suspiciously familiar looking boss.

I actually never thought of that angle and you could be right. Iga is a creative mind and has always added easter eggs, humor, and hidden meanings in his projects through out his career. And like Kojima has always been fascinated with western culture as well.
As for the negative attention seekers that have flocked to my post I have better things to do than play the immature game of back and forth.
Anymore contributions are welcome :)
There's also a hidden room in Symphony of the Night where there's a Hammer and "Sickle" inside, so some random non-sequitur about Communism and Dracula just having that and a confessional tucked away in his demonic castle. Guy is so rich he HAS a confessional and hates God, presumably. But the sword isn't literally called a "Sickle", I think it's a khopesh, so it just visually resembles one. There's a lot of visual humor like this with visual puns/jokes, so I absolutely get why you'd associate it with IGA. Even if the flying pigs are just comedic representations of the occult, guess what? I'll stop believing that's not a funny way to depict it when pigs fly.
Drops have jokes as well. I still remember the minotaur in PoR dropping the Bullova, because... it's a bull! XD
Also, Fenrir and Glasya Labolas dropping hotdogs because (according to the description, if not the actual mythology), both are canines, and both come from Hell, so they're dogs from somewhere known for being hot!
I'm sure there are others.
Considering Iga makes literal levels, weapons and monsters based off western and japanese puns and has done so nigh on thirty years, your sneery smarm isn't even in the right zipcode, much less on point.
Actually the cow statue's actually that of a bull. And I'm pretty sure that is in reference to a historic torture device. Just look up the Brazen Bull.
You're very right as it fits right into the theme of the level it is found in.
OD who is essentially Alucard from SoTn is voiced by the same person in both games.
