More visible changing 'main' armor pieces and outfits will come later. We had to prioritize things a bit to finish the game first.

Will also be polling the community on what they want to see :)

Only piece of armor I know that changes your characters appearance is "Valkyrie" armor.

And, it's not even that big of a change. Still, doesn't bother me that much.

SotN Had a changeable cape and visible weapons. That was IT.

RotN Has visible headgear, some accessories, scarves, hairstyles and hair-color, skin-color, eye-color, and all weapons.

I was slightly disappointed too, but not in comparison to SotN.

I'm not disappointed but I would be willing to pay $5 to be able to have the ability for clothing to be displayed. Maybe just maybe??

Hopefully they'll add it in later. Some of the icons for the armor looks really cool, but maybe it would've caused another significant delay to model all of it.

SoTn has a few cloaks, all of which were the same model recolored. This game has the ability to recolor your clothes a color of your choosing no matter what you wear (with the exception of I think Valkyrie armor, which comes with its own color, but I may be wrong), in addition to being able to change hair style, hair color, skin color, eye color, and having both masks and scarves that display. The customization is superior to the game you're comparing it to.

If that makes you want to return it, return it.

If you're a troll, this is really low effort. If you're NOT trolling, this is a silly reason to want to return a game, but it's your money, so go nuts. I think the cutoff might actually be 2 hours though, so be advised.

Also, Steam is bugging out for me at the moment. When I opened this thread a few minutes ago, it had 0 responses. Now, after posting, it has responses over 40 minutes old, so I'm repeating things other people already covered that I didn't see covered.

ya i got that too...anyway ya this is my main of 2 gripes. armor pieces not showing and the game speed seems slow. guess im used to faster action side scrollers

There are a lot of armors in this game with minor stat differences, you'll constantly be swapping them out for the next upgrade, it'd be kind of insane to model and texture every single one of them in a game like this when most of them are just holdovers to the next thing. And also when they're trying to establish and create a new character.

Call it laziness or whatever, but they went for something iconic with minor customization. Most games like this do not show the various armors, either. Hard to care about this. Wait for some mods if it bothers you that much.

its all good i just refunded. ill wait until they lower the price for the content...it feels too slow for me, weapons are just 1 hit animations, walking is slow, hitboxes create phantom hits (red samurai guy at the beginning), most weapons are just sub par compared to faster swinging weapons.

i get the traditional sense but i could boot up an old metroid/castlevania game for a tighter experience. i figured for a sidescroller in 2019 would have just did better than what we have already

If you get the shovel knight armor you become one of them while wearing it.
you can see hats and some accessories.

So you at least got to Zangetsu……..which is literally the 2nd boss of the game.

You got literally none of the movement tech that is a staple in metroidvanias and yet complain that you're too slow.

You do know how metroidvanias work, right? Everything improves over time?

Oh well...it's your loss.

armor pieces aren't cosmetic so you're going to stop playing the game and refund it? ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lmao

Guess they are not satisfied with all the hats, masks, and scarf (including custom color one, SOTN custom cape style), hairstyle, color, eye, and skin options that changes their looks.

No, no. The lack of ONE gear type not changing looks means customization doesn't count.

Why do people only bring up SotN for lies?

well you dont really see the eyes/skin color/scarf...the elf ears and hats look a little silly. the hair styles you kind of notice. even the weapons vanish when you start moving then pull a claymore out from your pocket. alucards cloak was dope as f***, plus he had cool effects when he moved. this was made over 20 years ago and we have hats and sunglasses now! oh and a scarf? lmao not much of an upgrade. Alucard was Draculas son he didnt need really NEED muc armor but i will digress i wish you could of had cosmetic stuff like that back then. so why not now? the dress just seems silly sometimes.
