Change the whip's attack moveset!
I just started playing the game on the Switch, I have minor gripes before I had even entered the castle, with the jumping not being as tight(feels like a minor input delay) and bats being small targets that move at the speed of sound.
But my biggest issue is I wanted to play using the whip and the way Miriam uses it is more style than than substance.

Why is it so awkward to use?! I'll gladly say "♥♥♥♥ realism" to have the classic whip attack moveset. I'm meaning the basic attack animations, a lot of the time the enemy might get right in my face and this current whip moveset only has a certain range and spot where it hits.

I've played a lot of Portrait of Ruin waiting for Nintendo to unlock the game, I love playing with the whip. Bloodstained's whip makes me want to cry! Spiritual Successor?! Spiritual Betrayer!
(Yes, I am grossly exaggerating, but I wanted Whip, and it's basic attack moveset is awful.)

To shorten lots of discussion here:
If you don't like it - don't use it. The whip or anything else possibly can't be improved or changed in any way as someone might like the status quo.
Also, you don't own the game on steam, so you basically don't know what you're talking about and are a troll.

Can't you read? I said I have the Switch version, Nintendo Switch! Who CARES if I own the Steam version or not, it's the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game, no matter the platform. YOU are the troll here!

Believe me, here are a lot of people who care for that ;o)

I'm usually quick to jump on the piracy accusation bandwagon, but the game is not Steamworks only for PC. It's on services like GOG too. No one uses the GOG forums when there's way more people on Steam.
Oh, thank you for clarifying. I DEFINITLY didn't know that ;o) So, it's ok if someone who doesn't own the game on steam still comes here for discussion or feedback? It doesn't make all his arguments automatically invalid?

...No, it doesn't. It's like two people talking about the plot of a movie, when one of them watched it on VHS and one of them watched it on Bluray. As long as the issue they're discussing is something that is the same in both versions (plot, or in this case weapon function) and not something that varies (image quality, or for the game I suppose things like Alchemist Boon strategies, as I've heard those are different on platforms), then the format they used to watch it doesn't matter.

Also, why are you even here? You said "If you don't like it - don't use it. The whip or anything else possibly can't be improved or changed in any way as someone might like the status quo." Why even bother wasting your breath on this? This is true for games in general, and things get changed all the time. If you think "deal with it because change might displease others" is a valid argument to shut down discussion, when discussion of this sort is a valuable tool in gauging whether something should be altered and how and how much pushback there might be, you're wrong.

Ignoring him...
I think if enough people complain about the whip.
Not about the attack power of the whip, I've learned and accepted that it won't compared to the big peen swords, axes, scythes, hammers ect. There will be no Vampire Killer in Bloodstained.

But about the way the whip is used, ya know the Belmont-style of just attack in a straight line in front of you. Classic crack of the whip we grown up with. I'd like to have that. Perhaps ONE more technique of Double Tap Forward for Critical Strike with a flame graphic on the whip, like Jonathan Morris in Portrait of Ruin.

I just tried to save you some time giving you a TL;DR of the upcoming discussion with the fanboys. I probably failed it as my own words provoked people, capable of reason, to discard some of my fanboy's statements. Furthermore, I miserably failed to make the sarcasm more obvious.

I don't believe you for a second. You were clearly trying to antagonize, and pulling a "same team bro, I was just trying to show you what a troll WOULD say instead of actually being a troll, it was all an act!" isn't fooling anybody.

Well, maybe you want to read my posts under a different point of view? ;o) Maybe, for some reason, someone noticed that I DON'T EVEN OWN IT MYSELF ON STEAM.

Short hop is your friend. You're not supposed to use the whip on the ground, outside the tech.
Also the Switch version has general input delay, it's pretty bad.

Looks like I did the right thing to go with the Steam version.

I didn't have much confidence in the Switch port given not only was it delayed for a week, but the screenshots on the store page were clearly from the PS4 version.
That was a complete red flag for me.

Also as for the whip, I've had a few hit detection issues with the lamps but it seemed to work alright.
If you want the old straight line whip. Might I recommend the other game they released, Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon.

I didn't like the whip when I started the game, but now on hard I've really come to appreciate it. If you want the classic whip moveset, get the whip-sword. It has that straight line attack.

I actually love the whip. I love the downward arc of the whip attacks. I love the range of it too. It's also very strong. Ambivalence is my most used weapon.

Whip-Sword? Can that be picked up without Iga's Backpack? The Switch version never got any of the DLC the Steam version did.

Yeah, you made the right choice to not get the Switch version. The graphics are all low res and it still has occasional fps spikes and load times between room transitions. It's not optimized at all for the Switch, but I wanted it to play in handheld and...I can never refund it because Nintendo's horrific policy, what a horrible mistake I made...

I saw screenshots of Curse of the Moon, is it a Metroidvania? Because to me it looks like the old NES Stage-to-Stage format or whatever and that's just not what I'm looking for.

I'm afraid it is part of the Iga's backpack. Are you sure it is not available on the switch? Maybe you haven't got the update yet on the switch, PC is at 1.03.
