Map Symbols?

I know the green scrolls are quests or quest givers sometimes (Evard Cuthands not to be confused with Edward Scissorhands is marked with a scroll for instance), but what are the other symbols? like the blue stone thingie?

That's a marker that you placed. If you hover over it, with a button press (depending on controls) you can remove it.

Then there's a glitch, I didn't put any markers on, didn't know I could do it, and yet it's everywhere?

No wait, no, I'm a complete moron, ok, since I played a lot of Igovanias before this my muscle memory was trolling me, B was always a get out of map button, but here it adds the marker, what a fool, A FOOL.

Yeah, what actually are the green scrolls? I've gone to many and they're empty rooms I've already finished, with no monsters, bookshelf, or anything of interest. My only active quests relate to killing monsters nowhere near the markers.
