What's Your First 8-Bit Weapon?

If you don't already know, early on you can find an 8-Bit coin, I believe it was in the sewers below the castle. You can soon trade that in to Joahnnes for a unique weapon. There's a lot to choose from, so I'm curious what everyone chose.

I'm going back and forth on a sword or the whip, personally.

Yeah I'm the first one who picked the boots, the Blue skies that is.
I loved having a slide that did some damage and i had a mean attack speed all game with it. it got better with double jump dive kick cause bouncing off of some bosses is a great way to do damage and stay alive.

I keep Deathbringer in one set, and whatever the best pistol I have in another exactly for that purpose. Oh and Poltergeist, once you get that bats wont be an issue anymore

I think I'll go with Deathbringer then and have a ranged set for later on.

The Dawnbringer is quite a nice weapon, if a bit slow, but does have a bit of range, I also got the lightsaber, that is an awesome weapon, and one I can't wait to upgrade.

I might try the whip at some point, but for me, the lightsaber wins hands down so far.

I picked Ambivalence. I quickly realized that the extended range is not worth the dead zone directly in front of Miriam.

The whips in this game are are really awkward to use. Well, except the sword whip, but that counts as a sword to the game.

the wips are super slow when only used on ground. you can jump cancel the cooldown with shorthops though, makes the whip super broken. i basically wrecked endgame with the beast whipe (dunno the name) dropped by a mob in the laboratory.

I farmed the item required for the 32-bit weapons using a combination of high luck and the pickpocket shard. There are actually weapons that are equal to the 32-bit weapons, though.

In regards to the post, I used the free one in the sewer chest just barely past the village for the sword that started with an E.
Now I'm using the fire axe and light element sword. I'm also using an ice mace, but that's not an 8-bit weapon. Switching your weapon type becomes far easier once you get all your weapon passive shards to rank 9 :P The only one I haven't bothered with is the whip, because I don't like how they swing.

Most 8-bit Weapons just look "fancy", but some of them have some sort of extra effect or deal elemental damage, which can be quite useful. Their base damage is not high, so they can't really be considered OP.

The ones that really caught my attention were:

• Oleanders (shoes): attacks inflict poisons status.
• Encrypted Orchid (sword): attacks deal multi-hit lightning damage.
• God Cross (1h sword): attacks deal holy damage and have a chance to inflict stone status.
• Deathbringer (2h axe): attacks deal multi-hit fire damage.
• Blood Grinder (2h sword): attacks deal dark damage and have a chance to inflict curse status.
• Silent Calamity (2h sword): attacks deal dark damage have a chance to inflict stone status.
• Scultpor's Chisel (spear): attacks deal ice damage have a chance to inflict stone status.

The gun is very good, it turns out. Its 32 bit version is far and away the best gun in the game, with 32 attack to the best 'regular' gun's 26. Even the 16 bit version has 22 attack, which is already pretty close.

The 32 bit black dragon spear is the best spear by a long way too. 58 attack compared to the best normal spear's 46. So if you're into spears it's a good choice.

I know I'm a little behind, but the best one by far is the Oleanders. Poison is almost game-breakingly OP. It affects all but 2 or 3 bosses, and I 100% the game. I only changed weapons to learn the techniques. You can drop kick enemies for full damage as well.
