Kickstarter Backers get screwed once again.
Back in 2015 i pledged 60$ for Bloodstained, back then i was really short on money.
But i pledged 60$ to support the Game and because of the Swordwhip and Secret Boss, which they said is "Backers-only content". But i rather would've liked to get the ArtBook tier, but it was far to expensive for me back then.

Here the Image for the "Backers-only content", from the Kickstarter page which you can still see if you look it up.

and now, at the release day, i see that it is a Day 1 DLC for 9,99$...
If i knew that back then, i wouldn't have bought the 60$ tier but rather the cheapest one for just a Steam key, because like i said i was short on money.

I mean... yeah cool, people don't have to miss out on the Swordwhip and Secret Boss, i though it was a dumb thing to begin with, but this now is really dumb too.

I think had to payed more for this DLC, since the key was only 28$ tier. And i payed 60$+5$ Shipping for the Key, a Slipcase and the DLC... and it took them 2 Years longer as they've said in the Kickstarter...

So 60-28=32 and i don't believe that the Slipcase is worth 15$ or more, but lets say its 20$, then i still payed 12$ for the DLC...

I think that is malicious deception... but nowadays that is kinda like a thing for Game Dev's or Publisher to screw over their Kickstarter backers.

They had a vote and put it to the Kickstarter backers, they overwhelmingly supported the idea of making the content available to all.

I am a backer as well and i do not think that exclusive content should exist.

It was actually a public poll, which was pretty stupid to do imo. Devs definitely got a lil greedy with it, but whatever, I'm not gonna make a thread to cry about it.

It was voted upon and the result was next to nobody liked permanently locked off DLC.

Also, you got Curse of the Moon and the OST for that price.

It was voted in a poll open to EVERYONE who had the URL, even non backers. Kind of not fair to the backers tbh. And it really don't matter if it was not open for everyone or not. The $60 and up backers did not get a chance to change their pledge, as the results came out AFTER they locked the pledgemanager.

Curse of the moon was given to every backer, as far as I know, even the $5 tier which pretty much means you need to NOT count that as a bonus on $60+ backers who paid extra for nothing.

I totally dislike the methods done with this, I'm a $300 backer and I asked for a refund for another 8x $125 pledges before the manager closed, because the poll results never came out in time (probably on purpose).

Not a backer of this project, and i'm not against Exclusives as long they are cosmetic.

Don't you also get the game called Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon?

I call that a fair trade.

I saved up money so I could increase my pledge to $125 + shipping (Alchemist's Treasure + Digital Game) and I agree with the poll result that the DLC should be made available to the public at a reasonable price point.

We made this game happen, and that is its own reward, as far as I'm concerned. If you care more about feeling special than to have a sustainable spiritual successor to the Castlevania franchise, then... I don't know what to tell you.

For what it's worth Armello did a similar but private poll over their exclusive content and still got the vast majority in favour of no exclusives.

Most people just want to make the game complete for anyone who wants to buy it.

Not if you backed physical. Physical $60 only got the game, slipcase, $10 DLC and Curse of the Moon (which was also available to the $28 backers).

Oh shut the ♥♥♥♥ up you jackass. This has been debated over and over on the games Facebook page. They put it to a vote and a majority of people wanted the content made available to everyone at a price. No one has been screwed. You're just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

As someone else pointed out, they put it to a public vote. 505 then selected an option that wasn't available on the vote: The winning option was actually make the backer exclusive content available as part of a $60 deluxe edition.

On top of that, physical preorders for $40 got the future pak which is superior to the slipcase in every way. A lot of the $60 backers feel cheated because they could have got a much better deal by backing at the $28 level and then preordering a physical copy for $40.

This topic has been done to death. Get over it is the key here. I am not happy about it really, but what ya gonna do. Game is solid as hell, and they won't do it again.
MMaRsu Jun 18, 2019 @ 10:11am
Hey at least they didnt sell out to Epic amirite?
Redblaze27 Jun 18, 2019 @ 10:15am
Nobody likes exclusive DLC.
I say this as someone who's enjoyment of games are affected by walled off gameplay content and as a backer.
