It was actually a public poll, which was pretty stupid to do imo. Devs definitely got a lil greedy with it, but whatever, I'm not gonna make a thread to cry about it.
Also, you got Curse of the Moon and the OST for that price.
It was voted in a poll open to EVERYONE who had the URL, even non backers. Kind of not fair to the backers tbh. And it really don't matter if it was not open for everyone or not. The $60 and up backers did not get a chance to change their pledge, as the results came out AFTER they locked the pledgemanager.
Curse of the moon was given to every backer, as far as I know, even the $5 tier which pretty much means you need to NOT count that as a bonus on $60+ backers who paid extra for nothing.
I totally dislike the methods done with this, I'm a $300 backer and I asked for a refund for another 8x $125 pledges before the manager closed, because the poll results never came out in time (probably on purpose).
I call that a fair trade.
We made this game happen, and that is its own reward, as far as I'm concerned. If you care more about feeling special than to have a sustainable spiritual successor to the Castlevania franchise, then... I don't know what to tell you.
i really wonder if people that complain about this were planning on selling their copies. I would at least understand their investement in this *shrug*
For what it's worth Armello did a similar but private poll over their exclusive content and still got the vast majority in favour of no exclusives.
Most people just want to make the game complete for anyone who wants to buy it.
Not if you backed physical. Physical $60 only got the game, slipcase, $10 DLC and Curse of the Moon (which was also available to the $28 backers).
As someone else pointed out, they put it to a public vote. 505 then selected an option that wasn't available on the vote: The winning option was actually make the backer exclusive content available as part of a $60 deluxe edition.
On top of that, physical preorders for $40 got the future pak which is superior to the slipcase in every way. A lot of the $60 backers feel cheated because they could have got a much better deal by backing at the $28 level and then preordering a physical copy for $40.
I say this as someone who's enjoyment of games are affected by walled off gameplay content and as a backer.
