2d platformer metroidvania's rarely clear $20, but this double that. I'm curious how that cost is justified, tbh. I've only had this game on the outskirts of my radar for awhile and was pretty surprised when I saw the pricetag today.
Pointing out that it is too expensive does no real Harm to anyone and may (even if incredibly unlikely) benefit all consumers.
What exactly is the point of the debate?
I own hollow knight and I own this (excited to play). I am willing to pay for what I enjoy, and I have the means of doing so. Honestly I would have paid more for hollow knight than what I did.
This is like saying "skyrim regularly goes on a massive sale, this other open world RPG that isnt as impressive should do so too!" When there is no accounting for the copies sold, the investment into the title, and the company behind it.
This isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea, let alone at the price it is. However we do need to stop devaluing games, the reality is that games are cheaper than ever but cost more to make. Eventually the market will creep the prices up as the market is saturated or we'll see fewer and fewer quality games get released.
To be fair, almost any game compares unfavourably with Hollow Knight on this measure. I think Bloodstained is reasonable value compared to the others I've played, though.
You comparing different forms of entertainment that's not a fair comparison.
What you need to look at is options in the SAME entertainment form - in this case games.
And what you need to focus on is what value does this game give vs the other 2000 amazing games released in the last 30 years, and the prices of THOSE games!
i got skyrim on sale on steam for $5, AND they gave us the 'Remastered Edition' for free when that got released. I can also post you tons of other examples.
$50 CND for a game that looks like it was made in 1999 20 years ago is a ripoff!
They just trying to milk customers that they gave praise of their last game. Its a joke.
There are other games in other genres that, simply running through your first time and not counting extra content, are quite short for the price, DMC5 for example. Thinking that the price of a game should be related to the length of that game is stupid because that's subjective and different for everyone.
So do the math and stop ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about the price, this you can keep forever, wow you have to keep paying to play aswell as other mmo's.
Some lowly made indie games i can understand, but this creator is from the original Symphony of the Night.
Im not defending the price per se, but considering i bought all castlevania games retail, i atleast don't complain about this price as i can get it for PC instead of console
I can't judge how it compared, but it is more pricey to it's peers.
And it still manages to look and animate worse. Quite the feat!
You pay for an experience, if the experience is fun for 10-20 hours then it's worth the 40 bucks imo. I've paid more for less fun, and I've paid less for more. I've played terraria for over a hundred hours and that was a onetime purchase near their launch when hamachi was used for it. I've also played rainbow six siege and ff14 for over 200 and paid more for them. I've also paid more for the game prey and will probably play this game more than I did that.
