What's safe to sell?

I just hit the store for the first time. I've got cheese, sugar, tomato, bronze, etc. Are these items used for anything or are they specifically for selling?

They're materials for crafting/cooking, only sell the ones that become obsolete as you progress.

My suggestion would be to not sell anything unless you can reliably get it as an enemy drop. Money is not hard to come by at all even if you don’t keep your inventory clear, and you never know what might be required for crafting/upgrading.

This. Money should be the last thing you worry about as it doesn't really get you much in this game other than the discount card and the catalyst for dismantling.

basically don't sell anything, even resources you've seemingly moved past can be used for low-level weapons that are stepping stones for high-level ones, they can be used for shard upgrades, they can be used to craft equipment to use that for shard upgrades, basically just hoard everything.

I have to agree - don't sell anything unless you are seriously hard up for cash and desperately need something. Money will become a non issue once you unlock the dragon tower and get the shards to farm candles.

Once you have a viable option to farm cash - best advice is to buy breakdown reagent(or farm them) breakdown all the stuff you want to sell and then craft it - then you'll be able to purchase it at the store.

There are 4 Amys in the desert area in on the bottom of the map (the one with the sketelal dragons). Amy die in a single hit and can drop 2x alkahest. I did this option as it was cheaper than buying them. You can equipped pickpocket and double the chance of getting the drop. I typically got alkahest per attempt. I think it will take 4~7 minutes to max out at 99, but it can happen sooner.

Yes indeed there are, but you can only stack 99. If you want to really get into breaking down and rebuilding with al. bounty you're going to need a bunch more so it's beneficial to get the gold so you don't run out breaking down two weapons then having to port all the way back.

Sorry, missed your point entirely ha. Farming alc early game head over to dragon tower far right from port - three paintings there with three candles. It doesn't take long to stack 99.
