i think they dont work together well anymore
However search for "Deus Ex Independence War widescreen 2.2" and you should get a link to a program that easily lets you do this.
I've read in another thread on this subject that this is part of the problem. It worked fine with Win98, and little finiky with XP, but through Steam, I'm not sure if anything works. Although I haven't tried the download I've been reading about today... Yet.
^ This worked! THANKS, ian!
The problem with both the temporary dump to the desktop, and the inability to access in-game Steam, as well as the "time played" counter is all based on the fact that DE IW uses one exe file to launch, another to run, and a third to load, whether loading a saved game or the next map area.
When it first came out, it was no big deal. But, with these newer systems, and going through Steam, it presents chalenges to the games opperation.
Personally, I find I can still enjoy the game even with thiese quirks. I did get the graphic rendering upgrade mod for it though. The graphics are phenominal now, even if it doesen't fill the wide screen from side to side.
