Deus Ex: Invisible War

Deus Ex: Invisible War

Change Resolution 1920 X 1080
Noticed this came up in several threads so thought I'd post this so it'd pop up at the top.

To Change the resolution manually to what you want since it only allows you to change upto 1600 in game display options, go to the "USER.INI" file located in C:/Users/Username/My Documents/DeusEx - Invisible War/ it's close to the very end if not the end of your ini file to change the resolution to what you want, it's also where your saved games are located. (Not the ini's located in the Steam/Game folder)

FullscreenViewportY=1080
FullscreenViewportX=1920
FullscreenColorBits=32 (I added this in mine not sure if it improved quality or not, but it's not necessary if all you want to do is change your game to the same as your native display)

Also worth checking out the texture pack that updates the graphics: I've got it running on mine. http://www.moddb.com/mods/john-p

Great post, thank you.

I would add that you should turn v-sync off after altering the resolution or else your HUD will be screwed up when playing the game.

At least, that's what fixed it for me.

Thanks for the tip. Great help.
I did this--it appeared to work (the ini is definitely updated to 1920x1080) but in-game it still 'tells me' I have a different resolution...I think 1280x960

Think it's OK? :p2chell:

Double check and make sure you changed the resolution in the ini file located in the C drive (path listed in original post), NOT the steam directory where the game is installed. In the display settings "in game" it won't say 1080p even after you update the ini.

I have a dual monitor setup so when my game resolution doesn't match my native resolution my secondary monitor items on the desktop get all screwed up... so when my secondary monitor isn't affected when I launch the game that's how I know it's running 1080p.
Thanks - it seems to be OK. I originally wrote this b/c Deus Ex actually states 1080p in-game after the fix; obviously Deus Ex 2 does not... Thanks again!

Yeah it is so odd that the older game DE GOTY allows many more resolution choices, but DE2 does not. I never understood why they did that with the second game. Cheers...glad things are working...

Ok sorry to be such a noob at all this, but it isn't working for me properly. I go into the proper .ini file and change the resolution, but once i go in game the hud is cut off. I even try turning off the v-sync, but once i disable it, the resolution goes back! Someone please help, I really want to play this game with my monitors native resolution! :(

Sorry I know you said you went into the right ini file.... however it sounds like you are changing the one in the steam game directory ini file of the same name. What is your native resolution set to, and you version of Windows? (just curious) I'll go into the game and check to see if I have v-sync off in mine and then update this post....

EDIT: I went into the game to double check to see if I had v-sync on or off. I had it on and it worked. But then I turned it off out of curiousity to see if there was any change and it still worked, also decided to leave it off this time. Btw I'm using Win7 64bit. I haven't tested this game in a Window 8 environment, should you be using Win8.

I had a problem with HUD size too and used tip 4 from this post to solve it.
