Deus Ex: Invisible War

Deus Ex: Invisible War

Some issues with this game Vsync, Multisampling, Brightness WIN 10
I know this game has a lot of issues and I'm having some trouble. I don't know if they are Win 10 related or just random. I have just finished Deus Ex GOTY with no problems and I wanted to get into this game but these issues are ruining the experience.

1. 1080p Resolution
I used the Deus Ex Widescreen Utility 2.2.0 and it works fine. The resolution, fov and hud size are modified as expected. The only problem is that this settings are reset every time, even if I don't change anything on the in game settings so I'm forced to run the utility every time I launch the game and it's pretty annoying.

2. Vsync
It just doesn't work, I have tried to enable it on the game's menu settings, on the nvidia control panel on both DX2.exe and DX2MAIN.EXE files but nothing, my FPS are just still all over the place. The only solution that worked was limiting the FPS to 60 but I get some stuttering.

3. Brightness, Gamma and Contrast.
Like Vsync this settings are broke and do nothing, I can slide them from 0 to 100 and there's no difference whatsoever.

4. Multisampling
It's set to 1 by default. If I try to change it on the menu the game crashes and if a I try to change the value on the user.ini file I get a black screen and the game won't launch.

I would appreciate any help.

My rig:

- i5 4670k
- GTX 760
- 8 GB RAM
- WIN 10 Pro

Thanks.

You got a utility for 1080p i would like you to share that with me i keep playing in that annyoing 1280x1024 res..

the problems you mention ren´t there on windows 7 ultimade with 64bit.
i think that might cause windows 10 or utility.
did you try without the widescreen utility?
that may also be a cause or try compatibilty mode for windows xp/7 + admin rights.

EDIT:
i use same gpu in a 2 way sli :D

Hi, here's the link to the original thread of the widescreen utility.
http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2088245

I tried EVERYTHING to fix the other issues and no luck but it doesn't matter now because I have already finished the game.

I have recently played the first two Splinter Cell games and also had the issues with vsync and brightness/gamma. So it seems it's a Win10 thing with old games.

Good luck.

hi. you need to do the following

1.) Run the Widescreen Utility as you normally would.
2.) go to your Documents folder and find the Deus Ex Invisible War folder.
3.) Right click on the file "user.ini" and go to properties
4.) make the file read only
and finally
5.) go to the permissions tab, and deny all users the right to "Write" the file.

the game ignores read only for some reason, and must be physically denied in the permissions tab to prevent screen resolution changes from being set back to default.

i5 4590 and 16 GB RAM, and a GTX 760, Windows 10 Home- how did you limit the framerate to 60? It looks like that's my solution to the however many crazy FPS are being rendered. I've got older games but this is the first one I've had with issues enabling basic V-sync.

What I did to play with fps cap:
1) install Visual Update http://ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=147423
vsync still does not work at this point
2) go to My Documents -> DX IW folder -> Options -> VisibleOptions.ini -> set MaxFrameRate there
3) yeaaay! GPU is not howling anymore.

These are the reasons I'm not even going to 'mess' with Windows 10. Windows 7 Pro is still being sold and supported, so I'll stick with that until I no longer have the option.

Thanks for making me come here to read your non contribution. Would you like to tell me why you buy french vanilla ice cream instead of regular vanilla now?

This worked great for me too, however i still have to deny permissions to keep the ini's read only. weird.

Yeap, I didn't change readonly attribute of any file.

this is such a valuable feature for older game that when is available makes for less issues in and with the game so in essence I hope more game devs will include it as a tweak and take heed of it.

Modern games more and more have these features available from the get go, often.

Where is the options folder supposed to be? I looked in the folder after installing the Visual Update and found nothing
