Windows 10 + invisible war = disaster
This game is unplayable at this point. The last time I played it was several years ago on a Windows xp computer (which ran smoothly). The game is an overall mess, especially with the modern screen resolutions (1920x1080 for example) and this game prefers (by default) to run on the lowest resolution. When you attempt to change the screen resolution in the main menu, the game freezes and automatically crashes, leaving your computer in a mess. My computer screen went from 1920x1080 to 600x800 and stayed that way.
Also, somehow when the game froze and crashed...the game was still playing in the background. I attempted to open task manager to end the application but the screen resolution was too small that it kept bugging out.
Soooo...i closed my notebook and prayed that the screen resolution would readjust itself...nope. This game done screwed up my notebooks screen resolution and I had to manually change it.

End message: don't play. it'll play you.

That seems to not happen to me, did this happen in the beginning, middle, or end of the game? The only complaint I have is the occasional crash, and when loading into a new area, the game shows steam or whatever is open in the background, but using big picutre mode whilst playing seems lower the chance of a crash majorly. I hope this helps,if it doesn't, you may want to consider a smaller moniter. Although, I wouldn't get a smaller moniter just to play this game, and I'm not sure it works.

What I did to play on Windows 10 in 1080p with fps cap:
1) install Visual Update http://ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=147423 (read notes for Steam version)
vsync still does not work at this point
2) go to My Documents -> DX IW folder -> Options -> VisibleOptions.ini -> set MaxFrameRate there
3) yeaaay! GPU is not howling anymore.

I know this isn’t steam related, but I’m desperate. I got my copy through direct2drive and when I tried running the patch it said that it couldn’t find the registry key for the game.
