After a bit of fiddling I was able to get it to trigger myself (as the girl) and I read the error message. I'm not a programmer by any means, but after doing some research, this error message is real. It's RPGMaker not knowing how to play the event because assets are missing (notably the .ogg file it mentions).
I think what happened is that early in the remake's development, the layout of the library was different than what appears in the final game (which is why the error message only triggers when the character is looking up, the same direction they have to face to interact with the other bookshelves) and the trigger for a bookshelf that USED to be in that spot was left behind by accident.
The reason why I mentioned playing as the girl character earlier is because when the text box appears, Library's portrait is loaded. BUT, if you play as the boy, Onigawara's portrait is loaded instead! I tried to trigger this in HD Remaster, but it doesn't work which I think further proves that this is unintentional, as cool as this would've been.
I hope this helps! It was cool learning something new about a game that I have a soft spot for!
