I screwed up on discovering the bomb and now the chopper blew up. how do I make sure they find it?

When you are about to leave Everett's house kill the shady mechanic on the roof just before you take off. This will promb Jock to check his chopper and find the bomb.

Or talk to the mechanic and then talk to Everett, this way killing is not necessary to strigger the event.
