You should be able to if you download the updated .exe here:

Should be able to. I'm running it on Windows 8 just fine.

Yes. But without the new .exe the experience will be quite bad. If you have dual core the original .exe can become confused, and if you have a processor that does any kind of speedstepping you would get a really slow game or a really fast one if the clock speed changes while in game (game speed is based upon the clock speed). So please, update your .exe.

First off, I don't know what you're talking about. Secondly, I didn't change any settings of any kind after downloading the game. Except for the render device or whatever. Other than that, the game runs perfectly.

Yes, it might run fine without the new .exe but you could have issues with the game slowing down or speeding up because the game speed is derrived from the base clock speed of your CPU and modern CPU's tend to slow down to conserve power or speed up to gain performance.

Also if you have more than one core the game might become confused (there were no multicore systems back in the day the game was made). The multicore thing you can fix by going into the Task manager and setting the Affinity to one of the cores, but that's messy so why not have the new .exe that forces that.

The new .exe is also playing nice with DEP, if you have that enabled.

Lastly the game is prone to crashing from time to time, the new .exe is far more stable in that regard.

Now, I'm not the maker of this .exe , but I am a community member and a modder of this game, and I feel obligated to point out the hard work that Kentie has put into making his .exe.
