Original vs Revision
Hello there. I'm planning to replay this masterpiece after 9 years. Would you recommend the og Deus Ex or perhaps try this Revision mod?

Both are worth playing. Do OG first

I'd recommend the GMDX mod over both tbh. Revision just changes way too much about the atmosphere & aesthetic IMO. A lot of passionate work, quite a lot of which needed either more work, or being left on the cutting room floor.

GMDX is much more understated, much of its benefit is in gameplay & general quality of life improvements & its visual improvements are well in keeping with the original in style.

How's the og version working on modern systems though? Last time I played is was back in 2015 on Windows 7 and it was actually working smoothly.

Download Kenties Launcher and the OG will run great. I'd also consider shifting to GMDX for the most refined experience as mentioned above. Revision is a fantastic passion project with lots of achievements but there are some questionable and needless design choices that sometimes even contradict the dialogue and some aesthetics just feel off too. All versions are worth experiencing though but if you've done the OG then I'd probably do GMDX next.

Thank you very much! I will consider GMDX then. Otherwise, I'll just stick to the original.

Yeah by all means check out Revision for repeat playthroughs if you're curious, I just really wouldn't recommend it for the first impression.

Full disclosure -- I've never played Revision. I'm curious to try it, and probably will after my current playthrough, but from my experience, especially if you've been off the game for 9 years, I would recommend a regular playthrough first to re-familiarize yourself with the game as it's meant to be presented, then do Revision so you can really appreciate the changes that were made and come to a conclusion of which you preferred if you ever wind up coming back for another playthrough down the line.
Plus any excuse to play DX twice back to back is always a good thing, because even it were released in any 2020s year so far it'd be a serious contender for the best game of the year.
(Now we just need a followup to Mankind Divided -.-)

Play revision but change all the settings to OG levels and graphics/music.
Use revisions built-in modifiers to spice up gameplay and have permanent blood decals.

Try vanilla-madder or deus-ex-randomizer sometime if you want the truly augmented
experience.
