So the PS2 version was a good port....thats good to hear, I guess I'll just be satisfied with that, even though the game on Steam is dirt cheap I dont want to deal with any wonky controls or a whole bunch of key mapping. I haven't beat the game yet though but I think I'm near the end
Yes, I was surprised how good it was. Eeven though it looks 100 times worse than modded PC version and has low frame rates at certain locations and has loading times, I still prefer playing the PS2 version because of the awesome controls. Playing Deus Ex laid back in a couch or armchair - can't beat that. But I will still check out the Revision mod that comes out soon on PC although I have doubts about it because I think that changing and updating the level design can't improve the overall experience but I hope I'm wrong.
I want to play the PS2 version someday myself. The differences between the two make both worth playing at least once imo.
no thanks, that would be the worst gaming experience imaginable. the interface and controls of the PS2 version were completely reworked from scratch. gamepad emulator is not a solution, if you don't believe try it yourself but don't start breaking furniture out of frustration.
"Good port" is very subjective. I think it was a mediocre port because it meddled with the level design and made it very cramped; Deus Ex is known for its large open-ended levels, and the PS2 version truncated all of that down to cramped corridors with tons of loading zones. It also babyproofed some gameplay elements (removing limb damage, making the heal aug hilariously OP), and overall the game looks uglier on PS2 with muddier textures.
The PS2 port had some cool features like autosave and dropping inventory items from corpses when your inventory is full... but Shifter adds all of that to the PC version and then some.
I'd seriously recommend getting the PC version, you won't regret it.
Nawh it quite easy to play with a emulator and no hassle to setup with a DL preset profile. I did have the Retail PC DE & DE IW boxset from GAME before the digital ones they play the same with the emulator.
I just make my own profiles now I have got over 100+ PC games that I used a gamepad emulator in SP & MP quite comfortably.
