It should be updated to match the shift in technology so it wouldn't look outdated, old, broken, wrong. So it would be proper.
We still dont have lightsabers, alien mutated monkeys and chickens, or human nano augmentations, so its good. Also the entire grey death and ambrosia plot couldnt be more relevant than now.
I own the original CD of Deus Ex in German and English since the year 2000.
Also the second part and the newly ones too.
Today I got the first both titles here on Steam.
I have very bad news and I am hoping that the first part, which is still at the top 3 of my best and most played games of all time, will get never ever a remake.
Here is the bad news:

https://www.wikiwand.com/de/articles/Embracer_Group#Rebranding_as_Embracer_Group_and_rapid_growth_(2019%E2%80%932022)
"In May 2022, Square Enix and Embracer Group entered into an agreement for the latter to purchase Crystal Dynamics, Eidos-Montréal, and Square Enix Montreal, alongside intellectual properties like Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Thief, and Legacy of Kain, for $300 million."
The world's greatst propagandist for woke/DEI stuff has the rights of the Deus Ex franchise now and they shall leave the spirit of the first Deus Ex alone.
Don't want to see JC Denton in a blue haired, non binary and what else style.
Besides such a cult classic like Deus Ex would be never ever allowed to portray the Background World.
Let it be good. Play the original game again. No Remake needed, especially not by this mega corp which wants to buy all the other companies "to rule them all" with this Templar protestant propaganda stuff.
In the coming days I will start a new Deus Ex run after 10 years, but this time in English and here on this platform.
But I have the game Deus Ex always on my PC installed, also Fallout 2 and Jagged Alliance 2 which are my top 3 games. I purchased Deus Ex and Deus Ex 2 for 2 Euro and it is alright.
Best Regards
If they tried doing original things with the remake its gona fall flat and be hacky and odds are they are gona change stuff if they make a remake.
so unless square sells off the ip to better devs, probably never gona happen in the first place.
This, plus the new Oblivion remaster/remake. I'm all for remakes if they manage to retain the original vision and feeling, and that's hard to do. I still think the OG Deus Ex would be nearly impossible to replicate though. It's the perfect combination of many elements (that differ in quality) brought to a masterful end product. It's equal parts insane and genius, whereas the modern games tread a more careful path, focusing only on the transhumanism and ignoring the politics.
Which I don't blame the game for doing, tbh, since posting anything that "defies" the current regime gets you disappeared into El Salvador means that being obtuse is better in these situations.
