As for key bindind, i don't get the problem. I've rebinded everything in my tase without any problems.
If the game shows its own key plus yours, just delete it first, but even with own key/your key it'll play your key.
A mod to fix the controls and make them more modern would be great, but it would definitely need to be a mod. There's lots of controls that should be merged together or removed completely.
What? No. God no. DX has just about flawless controls; I've got everything I need bound around wsad. Reaching up to the function keys to activate augs is plenty user friendly.
As for the controls, it actually isn't difficult to get used to them. I did. As for the bugs, yes, I'll admit that it took me a while to get it working smoothly on Windows 8. But, once you're done dealing with the bugs, it's worth it. The PC of Deus Ex has larger maps, shorter loading times and a more useful interface. Those things that the PS2 couldn't handle.
However, I understand you're used to PS2 version, so I'll give in to that. Your choice is your choice. But, there's a reason why the PC version of Deus Ex is still considered by many the greatest game of all time.
