I agree.. But.. There's a difference between what they did with say, the doom reboot... Now all of a sudden doom has a lame storyline, weird complex game mechanics and some objectable music that is now become the only doom music and the old midis are nothing anymore... Not gonna rant on about it, but as an avid original doom fan, I feel ya when it comes to this sort of thing.... But don't forget there have been some really faithful "reboots" or somewhat "official source ports".. The Turok series comes to mind, day of the tentacle, system shock (the source port of the dos version, not the latest reboot), quake... Do this sort of thing with deusex so that we don't need to fk around with renderers and launchers and ini settings.. That would be nice, in a perfect world.
Rant1: And just to clarify my thoughts a little.... Revision is NOT a reboot.. It's just a mod that the kids these days have taken to and are trying to replace the original with.. I'm literally looking at my brain because the eyeroll is strong with this one
Rant2: and speaking of revision.. It's funny how you get people on here that don't want to mod (even if it's the essentials like renderer and maybe launcher).. And yet their the same people that reccomend revision *face palm*
Deus Ex remake made by Nightdive Studios could be a great thing, you can see what good updates they have made to classics like System Shock, Shadowman or Exhumed.
ur insane if u think new doom games are bad, new ost and lore are insane
the specific ways you need to take on enemies, the generic console style boss battles, the arcade style mini games and don't get me started on the multiplayer.. What happened to deathmatch and coop? ... It's lost its original charm in my opinion and has turned into something else, like
a Serious Sam game or something.. But everyone has their own opinion on it.. I just happen to be in the %1 club I guess *shrugs*
You're talking to a guy that's pissed about Doom music switching from thrash metal to djent, I don't think he's gonna take kindly to Rule of Cool hipsters from Vancouver WA that think the soundtrack to System Shock was full of ambient space music.
If Nightdive did a remake of Deus Ex, it'd have animated executions and rock music, JC would look at his hands for 7.2 seconds every time he picked something up or used a medkit, everything would be covered in lens flares because that's totally what games looked like back then on purpose, the melee range would be halved for no reason and their fix to this would be making enemies bobble like punching bags when you hit them, they'd promise a gender selection at release which wouldn't show up for at least a year, the menus wouldn't be scalable, you wouldn't be able to skip any dialogue or cutscenes until a patch, it would take 10 years to make and the forums would be policed via unpaid Czech Discord mods conducting raids and calling people entitled for wanting the game within a half decade of its estimated release.
I agree a billion percent, "based" as the kids say
Actually, I was kinda defending Nightdive somewhat... just a little bit, we are on the same page though.. Turok was a great port of an old game I never expected to get any love.. But, yea they did change the maps by either removing some sections or rearranging them to "accommodate" the kids short attention spans these days *eyeroll*.... then again they did open up to the steam workshop, which in turn allowed the community to bring it back to the original deign.... but then again, they didnt end up doing the same for Turok2.... *sigh*.. its a hit and miss with ND really, I do agree with you, but just with a little more optimism lol
They couldnt do a port of Deus Ex anyway, not with their engine.. it wouldnt be right for it not to be the Unreal Engine, be it a simple upgrade to UE2 or 3, or a full overhaul to UE4 or 5.. to which there is an active project in the works that you can download and play now by a lonesome member of the community.
This warms my heart to know Im not alone... Even a good friend of mine, also an avid og doom fan, to whom I thought shared my opinion.. does not in fact, share my opinion of the new doom games... we are not friends anymore (joking lol)
