Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition

Mirrors broken after editing .ini
I edited my .ini as per

https://teksyndicate.com/play-deus-ex-in-2022-with-vanilla-friendly-mods-just-do-these-three-things/

and the game is looking and running PERFECTLY now. So I'm using the D3D9 as per the video I followed. The ONLY thing that is no longer working is Mirrors / Reflective Surfaces. I read a couple of posts on my scouring of the internet that said this occurs after editing the .ini file. I assume that the value "ShinySurfaces" is what controls this, and mine is set to True... any tips guys and gals??

Try the opengl renderer instead, I've never had any issues with it and it supports new vision textures so long as s3tc is enabled in the ini.. Which should be by default: https://www.cwdohnal.com/utglr/

Also, are you sure your looking at the right direct3d9 settings and not just direct3d in the ini?... I can't seem to access your link, I don't really know what you've done exactly so I'm just assuming here, are you using kenties launcher? If so, use the link at the bottom right of the launcher window to the deusex.ini just to be sure your accessing the right file... With the launcher installed the ini will be in your documents/deus ex folder rather than the actual game folder.

Hey there, thank you SO much, this did this trick!! I accessed the .ini file in the Documents folder and made the changes and everything works perfectly now. I was prepared to go on without mirrors, but it's the little things y'know! So thank you again, big help.

just tried this out, and it actually worked, so thanks a lot. just as a precaution i also set the .ini to read only, so that it wont get edited by anything.
