Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition

Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition

Can't run Kentie's launcher.
When I installed Kentie's launcher for the game, and tried to run it, it was complaining about some missing DLL files, so I downloaded them and put them in the system folder. Now when I try to play it, it just says: Application Error. The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b)
Please Help!

Yes, and I'm pretty sure I installed it. I ran it again anyway just to be sure and the only options were to remove or repair. So i chose repair, and I still have the same issue.

Remove the downloaded DLLs. If you've placed them in the system32 folder of Windows you should repair/reinstall the Visual Studio 2015 runtimes again.

I only put them in the deus ex 'system' folder, and, following your advice, removed them again. I then repaired vcredist, and it is again complaining about the missing files.

What OS are you running?

Did you extract all files of Kentie's launcher to the the system folder? Did you rename or replace any of the files afterwards?

I just got it working.

Extracted files to system, just as I did before. This time though I didn't do anything to the file DeusEx.u

I thought that other file in the archive was to replace DeusEx.u, but no it suppliments it.

OP, rename the original EXE as DeusEx_OLD.exe, then extract both the new exe and deusexe.u to /system/. You should at that point have deusex.exe, DeusEx_OLD.exe, DeusEx.u, and DeusExe.u in the system folder.

Xerazal, I never replaced deusex.u anyway. I have the same setup as you at this point, and still getting the missing dll files.

When you first installed the game, did it run fine?
nuttapillar Sep 5, 2016 @ 8:40pm
Yes, it runs 'fine' with the original launcher. Just at a crappy resolution that looks terrible on a large 2K monitor. i tried using an alternative renderer, which indeed allowed me to use 2560X1440, but the game was far too fast. I heard that turning on vsync fixes that, but it didn't fix it for me. So I hit a dead end there.

dang. I haven't actually tried playng the game just yet, just started it to make sure that it worked. Maybe lock the framerate at 60fps?

How do i do that?

the Kentie launcher has an option to set the framerate to whatever you want. by default, for me at least, it was set to 120.
