Missing Hell's Kitchen Music
Any way to easily add the missing New York music aka NYC Streets 2 back into the steam GOTY release? I've played on GMDX before but am playing on a fresh vanilla install with the kentie patch. I thought kentie added the music back in when it updated the maps but this doesn't seem to be the case.

Kentie's Launcher is just that - a launcher. It doesn't change anything gameplay related. You can download the fixed map here[www.dxm.be]. Download the 7z version and put 08_NYC_Street.dx from the Maps folder into the Maps folder of your installation (optimally make a backup of the original before you do this).
As for the Community Update, I believe it installs into a separate directory with it's own save folder, hence your missing saves. They should still be in the original game's installation folder.

Installed and it deleted my saves. I literally just got to this part of New York so I was curious if I could play it with music then and there. I have the save file data(?) on my user branch to deus ex, but copying those over to the game folder's save files doesn't work.

Have you made any backups of your installation?
I have the two dxs files plus saveinfo for the last save game I had which was this morning and a few from earlier dates.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I installed the community update to my DX folder, so the save folders under (common/deusex/saves) were empty. I did start a new game just to save and see what happen, and that did seem to generate some new save folders in (save0002), dxs files linked to other NYC maps even though I only started and saved on the liberty island. (documents/deusex/saves) do seem to have my most recent saves according to date.
Is it just a matter of using an alternate launcher, or would reinstalling restore my old saves?

Sorry, I forgot Kentie's launcher actually saves into the Documents folder, so those are the saves you were making before installing the CU. The original game and the CU save in the installation directory.
You could use Kentie's launcher and load the CU with it so it reads the original saves from the Documents folder (or just copy them over manually), however I don't know if they are compatible with the mods you've now installed.

So would uninstalling the CU revert the game's directory back to Kentie and make the saves saved there functional again? Willing to try it but I'd rather hear second opinion first.

No, you can either copy the saves from Documents into the installation folder or just use Kentie's launcher and tick the CU in Data Directories so that it would load and simultaneously use the Documents folder for saving.

Found that I could access the saves again just by launching the original 1112fm launcher, reinstalling kentie overrode CU and let me play as normal again. extracting updated map files didn't seem to change the music so whatever. next time I'll just play GMDX like everyone else.

That's weird, I tested it and the music worked. Maybe I accidentally did something on my end. Oh well.

Turns out it does work, I was just loading directly into a save that was already in NYC. When I loaded a save at the end of Hong Kong and went to NYC, all the music kicked in as normal.
