Stuttering when using D3D10 renderer
Whenever I use any of the D3D based renderers I get heavy stuttering during the game. Rollbacking my Nvidia drivers made it a little bit better but didnt fix it completely.
Using the enhanced OpenGL renderer has nearly no stutter but is much darker so its kinda hard to see in certain locations.

Any tips on how to fix this?

There is a super easy way to fix this, not hard to find either.

Disable in-game frame rate limit. Use "0" for "FPSLimit" setting.
Add deusex.exe to Program Settings in Manage 3D settings in NVIDIA Control Panel and
change the following settings.
Low Latency Mode: Ultra.
Max Frame Rate: 120 FPS. (I chose 60)
Power management mode: Prefer maximum performance.
Click Apply.

Also fixes the menu lag problems.

Known issue for d3d10 render. pcgaming wiki lists "This renderer may exhibit stuttering and performance issues with Nvidia driver 442 or newer". I didn't get heavy stuttering, but I got random stutters until I rollbacked to 442.74 and the stuttering was gone. If you want to use the opengl render (the updated one) I suggest tweaking it with higher quality settings and perhaps turning up the brightness a little bit. I never had a problem with the upated non d3d render, so I'm not sure. If you have kenties launcher, you shouldn't have any issues.

Check here https://www.deusexnetwork.com/knowledge-base/7/2/game-graphics-hq-settings-replacers for highest optimized opengl settings.

Also, if you decide to use the d3d10 render, make sure you download the hdr fix here. https://www.moddb.com/mods/gmdx/addons/veronikas-hdr-brightness-fix d3d10 render by default has auto hdr/dynamic contrast that functions pretty poorly sometimes. This makes it so there is never brightness shifts when looking at brighter objects.

If you need more help, just ask here and I'll get to it as soon as I can.

I tried both 442.74 and 441.87 and while they both reduced stutters significantly they were still present and so annoying for me personally that I considered it unplayable. I'll go check out your OpenGL settings though. Thanks!

with the d3d10render you could also try classiclighting=true. It won't look as fancy, but it might help your situation.

What's wrong with OpenGL?

This is another option, may or may not be better: https://www.moddb.com/mods/unreal-directx11-renderer-for-ut-ug-rune-and-dx

Id suggest disabling tessellation though, it doesn't look right.

Nope same issue with this one. Apparently new Nvidia drivers just permanently broke every D3D10 or higher based renderer for me. Ill just suffer through the darkness of OpenGL.

same thing happens to me on D3D10, but D3D9 works okay but I can't adjust my brightness, any way to fix that?

Do you have the updated D3D9 render? You should be able to change the brightness with no problems. I know that's an issue with older renders (unreal gold has that issue)

Nope using the updated D3D9 renderer has the same effect as the OpenGL one. So its either having properly working brightness and insane stuttering with D3D10 or 11 or Good Framerate and Brightness not working with OpenGL or D3D9

Send me your config, Ill try to see whats wrong. If you have kenties launcher (which you should anyway), your config is in documents >deus ex system> deusex.ini

I figured out that its using Windowed Borderless mode that is breaking the brightness slider on D3D9. Using exclusive fullscreen makes it work for some reason. Guess D3D9 is just weird.

Are you using New Vision?

Ok. I never had trouble with I will have to check it out it's been awhile.

This is a real shame. Nvidia's recent drivers are causing stuttering. It's much better in OpenGL but still has stuttering.
