Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition

Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition

Is it always that dark?
I went to hell's kitchen, it's the third location - and it's still near pitch blackness. Is it that dark in every single location of this game?

You can use a launcher, or just change your renderer yourself...

Open C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\SteamApps\Common\DeusEx\System

Find DeusEx.ini

Right-click and Edit the file...

Edit this Line:

GameRenderDevice=

To read:

GameRenderDevice=OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice

Save and exit

As others have said, it's a result of the old renderers. Kentie's and Direct3D 10 (available on Kentie's site) or Enhanced OpenGL are your best bets

Not the Direct3D that comes with the game (Labeled as "Direct3D Support"), but Direct3D 10 Support, which is an updated version of that renderer that needs to be downloaded separately

Here's the launcher I use. It's pretty good and it lets you change FOV, etc. includes the updated Direct 3D magic that lets you change brightness.
