Because that was peak cyberpunk fashion at the time (still looks cool as hell if you ask me). Trenchcoat, vests with buckles, and sunglasses. Also you can have the option to make JC black

Obvious bait is obvious, but still.

Cyberpunk doesn't explain why he is dressed exactly like Blade

he isn't

He is. And the fact that he has a katana makes him guilty of cultural appropriation.

Also, the fact that he is dressed in all black makes him guilty of passive hate towards LGBTQ community because black is the opposite of white and white is all colours combined in a rainbow. Therefore, he hates rainbows, therefore he hates LGBTQ community.

Blade is a homophobic racist who is appropriating asian culture. He is also wearing leather and is destroying the race of vampires, who are hiding in the basements and from daylight due to terror tactics employed by blade, much like the Jews in holocaust. Which means that Blade is also a literal nazi.
Here is your reddit gold, stranger.
Much obliged

Bad trolling by pretending to by offended by literally everything. Sometimes it can be funny when satirized right, but on something like this ultimately it's just a bit tiring
I feel personally attacked. I feel a lot of toxic masculinity in this thread.

Nice ASSumption here.
I just asked question. Don't know answer then don't write back. Why it's so difficult?

yeah, except highest grossing R rated comic book film on it's release date, that spawned 2 sequels AND helped prepare momentum for X-Men which officially started superhero movie craze we are still living under.
Blade started the comic book genre of movies, way before Iron Man finally nailed it home with the normies. Guillermo Del Toro made his normie debut with Blade II. Also, the movie is everything that embodies 90’s filmmaking. It’s a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cult classic.

Actually, JC is cosplaying matrix, dude. That was the point, all action heroes in “deep” movies had to wear a black leather trenchcoat, sunglasses at night and of course, have gelled-back hair.

Noice, now I can save it for when the market crashes due to pandemic, and we have to live in a post-apocalyptic world where you pay with likes and forum rep for food.

Except he doesn't cosplaying Matrix, he is wearing exactly what Blade wears in first film, just tainted in dark blue instead of black (though it's all debatable as black can look blue under certain lightning) and with third buckle on the waist being different than on armour vest and even haircut is similar. https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/deusex/images/b/b8/JCDenton.png/revision/latest?cb=20110906201514&path-prefix=en https://memestatic.fjcdn.com/pictures/Jc+denton+is+just+blade+in+white+flavor_3be138_7118840.jpg
The only real Matrix reference is cheat code that makes all into Matrix green code. And maybe slow-mo, also obtainable with cheats. Then again Blade came out earlier than Matrix.
And during alpha JC looked much different, without sunglasses too.

People like and run out to buy tickets to whatever is hyped up and popular. When it comes to FADs it could suck but since it's fashionable it's the thing to do and be into.

0 correlation with anything.

Originally they were going to have a different costume - Denton's shirt would have had a white stripe running down the middle of it. The picture of Denton on the cover of the game uses this design.

I remember that the original Blade was really good - it was also one of the first few films on DVD, so if you had a DVD player there was Blade, Das Boot, Bladerunner, the Blair Witch Project, your movie shelf basically stopped at the letter B.

Later on they released DVDs that began with other letters, but it wasn't until 2003 that they finally reached W.

I know all of that. What I don't understand is why they chose Blade exactly to base JC Denton's final clothes on? Why movie about some vampire slayer based on comics when it has absolutely nothing cyberpunk, or conspiracy theory about it (although villains' motivation are a little bit similar, but that's because it's generic motivation).

Oh an btw first time I beat Deus Ex it was in 2012, and I didn't noticed his Blade similarity back then, I just thought clothes looked very utilitarian instead of beautiful or cool like with Adam Jensen (which I liked very much as it makes more distinctions between a government agent and chief of security of rich guy).
But not a long time ago I duckduckgo'd Why JC Denton looks they way he does and then a pic of him next to Blade popped out and it was instant click, even haircut (original from the game, NOT redrawn model in Playstation 2 version or Invisible War).

I wonder if Deus Ex devs look in those forums.
