Question on Skills
Hello everyone. So, I was super into Deus Ex a while back, but got sidetracked with life and ended up dropping it for a month. I've hit that point where getting back into my old save file will just leave me confused as to the current plot and progress in my mission, as well as forgetting the layout of wherever I am, so once I get back into it I'm going to restart my game.

As a result of this, I wanted to ask a question regarding skills. I think I was about halfway through the game the first time, on the giant cargo ship you're supposed to rig to blow. I noticed that even though I had decent skills, I had nowhere near enough points (or whatever they are called) to max out more than one single skill at the rate I was gaining them. So I want to ask: If I am taking my time and exploring the level, about how many skills am I going to actually be able to max out?

I have a large focus on lockpicking, electronics, computer and rifle for long distance killing. Anything else I dealt with by hacking it to pieces with the Dragon Tooth or tranquilizer crossbowing them from an air vent. Often I would just avoid people all together, as I'm pretty good at stealth games.

Since I plan on redoing the entire game, I want to know how high the skills end on an average playthrough. If its impossible to max out both lockpicking and electronics then I'll leave both at 3 and focus on the rifle instead, that sort of thing.

I can't say for certain, as i've never really counted, but as someone who's been playing for about 14~ years, my playthroughs usually end with Computers at Master, with whatever else i'm using at least trained. That usually being: Electronics, Lockpicking, Weapons: Low-tech, Weapons: Pistol, and Weapons: Rifle. Usually I can manage to max out Pistol as well, and sometimes low-tech. If i'm playing on the Realistic however, I min/max Medicine, Pistol, and either Low-tech or Computers.

So to answer your question based on my experiences, you can get 3 maxed if you really min/max with your skills, otherwise, you'll have a good amount of skills up to Advanced, with at least one being maxed.

Fair warning though: I could be absolutely and completely wrong, as some of my more recent playthroughs i've just maxed out Computers and did nothing else in terms of skills. So take this with a handful of salt.
