Saves missing?

I loaded the game up thinking i'll finally come and finish it and my saves are not there.... wtf? I definitely dont want to start over, i always thought this game was too long.

The game did ask me to choose settings and stuff before i could start it on steam... did that wipe my data?

IMHO your situation probably is this: Nothing's lost, you're just facing the modding facet of the game. E.g. if you have Revision or GMDX etc. installed and launch that, you'll only see those savegames, I guess because a certain directory subtree is set for the game's run. Maybe such a thing is what you're looking at.

Maybe you could just Google for what those savegames are normally named like, and then search on your computer if you find them, if so that would suggest the situation is indeed as suspected.

Btw., to search stuff on your Windows PC, the best (The best.) program is Everything, the first Google hit for the word "everything". Doesn't search content, only names, but with patterns etc, most of all INSTANT results with every character you type.

If your using kenties launcher, it will look for your saves in your documents/deus ex/saves folder by default... If you were using the standard deusex.exe that came with steam before installing kenties launcher then your saves will be where you installed deusex, and if they are then copy them over to the other folder.

I'm using steam like i';ve always done i've never used another launcher. just all of a sudden everything is gone. my saves folder is empty jsut witha text document that says dummy.

Have you uninstalled the game before? Or moved computers? Maybe switched hard drives? AFAIK DX1 doesn't support steam cloud.

No, i left the game as is because i wanted to finish it someday before uninstalling it. but i decided to finally try and load it up to finish it and the saves were gone.
