Low FPS around water
So, I decided to start a playthrough of this game, and I'm having some issues with it. I got the DX10 renderer along with Kentie's launcher, and when I got to the water section of the tutorial, my FPS dropped from a rock solid 120 FPS to around 70. Is there any fix for this? My color depth is already set to 32 bit.

70 fps doesn't seem that bad, but if you really need to gain those extra frames you could try setting ClassicLighting to true in your deusex.ini, or turning msaa or any other type of antialiasing your using off.

Last resort for a decent fps boost would be to use either the enhanced opengl or direct3d9 renderer, either of those will give the most performance.... I never did like those post processing effects the direct3d10 renderer has anyway so that's what I usually use.

70 FPS is pretty bad for a RTX 2080 Ti and an i9 9900KS. Also, I already have classic lighting on, and I tried setting everything to it’s lowest to no avail.

Don't mind me, I just come from a time where 20 - 30 fps was the norm... So anything over 45 for me is playable by far... That been said though, I do understand, I'd be aiming for high framerates if I had one of those high refresh rate monitors, but I don't unfortunately :(

But yea give one of the enhanced renderers a go, should be smooth as silk.. Can send a link if need be

Oh and there is a direct3d11 renderer on kenties site too, but it's a work in progress... Still works though, maybe give that a go too

Is it just the training or does it happen in the main game aswell?

Aaand, I kinda hate mentioning it, but try hanflings launcher, apparently it's better than kenties.. If that helps at all, let me know

I haven’t got past the training portion yet as I wanted to get this issue ironed out before I began. I tried the DX11 renderer and this dip didn’t occur, but it is outdated compared to the DX10 one. I’ll try that other launcher when I get home later.

Finish the tutorial as it is, your near the end of it anyway, and see if it does it on the first level.

Strange that the dx11 works though... I'd probably try deleting the section of the deusex.ini where all your direct3d10 settings are, launch the game and let it add the defaults back in and see if that makes a difference.

Update:

Just found this, its an updated dx11 renderer, might be worth a look: https://www.moddb.com/mods/unreal-directx11-renderer-for-ut-ug-rune-and-dx/downloads/unreal-directx11-renderer-for-ut-ug-rune-and-dx-version-12

I still got the FPS dip with the hanflings launcher with the DX10 renderer. I'd rather not use the linked DX11 renderer due to the graphically differences between the original.

You can turn all that off im pretty sure, but if it's not the eye candy your after then it's the opengl renderer you want: https://www.cwdohnal.com/utglr/

I've mentioned it a couple of times now but I dunno if you tried it yet, let me know how that works for you.

I fixed it! Use v28 here,[kentie.net] and the FPS drops will go away. I think the texture flickering fix (the only change in v29) messes the FPS up with RTX cards.

Hmm interesting, I'm glad you got it working.. I dont own an rtx card :'(... But would you mind giving that dx11 a try when you can, interested to know if that issue still occurs with this "latest renderer" that's recently popped up.

Solved the issue for me, and I don't have an RTX card, thanks

You can use Nglide and use the glide render. Thais always an option.

This is the way of the ancient people.. Before we had harnessed the power of the ray tracing.. We had the power of the 3dfx voodoo hardware accelerator card.. Behold it's graphical enhancements and performance boosts...

But hey if your rtx card can't handle it, you could always try software mode :steamhappy:
