General Protection Fault

When I attempt to launch this game using Direct3d I get a general protection fault that reads:

History: UD3DRenderDevice::Unlock <- UViewport::Unlock <- UWindowsViewport::Unlock <- UGameEngine::Draw <- UWindowsViewport::Repaint <- UWindowsClient::Tick <- ClientTick <- UGameEngine::Tick <- XGameEngineEXT::Tick ,- UpdateWorld <- MainLoop

If I launch it using Software Rendering instead I get the following error:

UWindowsViewport::TryRenderDevice <-
UWindowsViewport::OpenWindows <- UGameEngine::Init <-
XGameEngineExt::Init <- DDeusExGameEngine::Init<- InitEngine

Additionally I get the similar errors when attempting to launch Unreal Tournament:GOTY.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You could try to download custom Direct3d10 renderer for Unreal engine games on this website[kentie.net]. You can also download here Kentie's launcher (Deus Exe) for Deus Ex, as this should fix some problems that this game has with modern OS.

And you could also try to download and run dxwebsetup[www.microsoft.com] to download and install missing files of DirectX9.

And also I think that it isn't good idea to use software rendering.

It looks like your trying to run the game in an unsupported resolution, so as the first post describes, install kenties launcher and one of the new renderers like direct3d10 http://kentie.net/article/d3d10drv/

Or you could try just changing the resolution from within the deusex.ini file

Thank you for the advice, I just installed the DeusExe launcher as well as D3D 10 support and it appears to have worked.
