stuck in Hong Kong

I'm playing Deus Ex GOTY edition, NOT the revision one...NOT the modded on. I've searched for answers online and can't find one, so I'm asking the forum...

OK, went to Versalife and got the ROM encoding for the Dragon's tooth sword. I'm supposed to go to the temple in Wan Chai so Max Chen and Gordon Quick can kiss and make up... it's right there as the last goal that I have to complete.

According to a walkthru there is supposed to be a cutscene showing this happening when I go there. Well, nothing happens. Max Chen is standing there and every time I try to talk to him he just says there IS a truce and they will manage Hong Kong together. Outside nearby, Gordon Quick is at the entrance to the compound, and he just stands there and won't say anything to me when I try to interact with him. In that compound is Tracer Tong, who tells me to go to the temple so the Triads can make a truce! Well dammit I've done that!!

So now what? It's almost like the cutscene happened while I wasn't there, but in my goals, "Go to the temple in Wan Chai the cement the alliance between the Triads" remains uncompleted. It really sucks to have gotten this far (got to be halfway thru by now) and just running around listening to that maddening Hong Kong music getting nowhere.

Enter versalife level 3 and destroy the UC. If that doesnt let you advance the game then enabled cheats, type legend, and skip the level entirely. If you don't know how to enable cheats:

Erase say type

Set DeusEx.JCDentonMale bCheatsEnabled True

erase say type legend

There is a menu to skip levels in there.

Cool, I'll try that. It's not really cheating because I did go and destroy the UC and came back. Everyone then kept telling me to meet them 2 in the Lucky Money. Max was there again, but no Gordon Quick and no cutscene, so now I really am stuck since I understand a helicopter is supposed to come get me out of the level, according to a walkthrough.

Hey! Instead of skipping to the next level, I just typed in the level I already was in, and it must have reset something, because I went to the temple again on a lark, and there they were! I got my cutscene and the goal says completed. Thanks alot!
