Anyway, there is no skill system, there are only augmentations. It´s similar to this game, that you get for each part of body a choice of 3 augmentations: 2 normal, which you can get from normal aug canisters (and update them to 3 levels) and 1 "illegal" (red), which you can get from more rare, illegal aug canisters. But unfortunetaly, aside of red color, it doesn´t make your character more evil, everybody hostile, etc. The problem there is that there are some augs which are mandatory (if you want to have more easier game), such as neural interface, which allows you hacking, but then you can´t choose another augmentations for that body part. But one thing which is better than in this game, you can change augmentation in a part of body, if you don´t like your current one.
And talking about interaction with computers, here you don´t have to insert login info manually, if you find it, the game will insert it automatically for you. And instead of having multitools and lockpick, here you instead have magic wand ("Multitool"), with which you both lockipick doors and electronicks.
And due to missing skill system, there isn´t really any need of exploration of doing side quests, because you´ll get for quests just money and you´ll have lots of them in later parts of game (like in every RPG).
Anyway, unlike first game, where you have big maps, here you instead have tiny corridors, which means that the stealth gameplay is useless here, as more easier is just to shoot or beat everybody. Also is no body part hit detection, so if you want for example stun anybody, you can just beat him, because hitting him from behind is innefective. And near the end of game you´ll get bigger maps, but there will be purple fog around you. This limitation of maps is due devs making this game mostly for Xbox, which had worse hardware than PC and also they chose to put more resources to beautiful graphics instead of other things, such as making realistic locations in the first game.
And unlike first game, you can choose there for which faction you want to do quests, but there aren´t any real consenquences for this (also due to one spoiler thing).
And one thing for which is second game infamous is universal ammo, which you spend for using every weapon. The problem is that if you go out of this ammo, you can´t shoot with nothing and have instead to use melee weapons. And you can´t buy these ammo anywhere, only find it. You can´t even loot if from dead enemies, as they only drop their weapon, without any ammo.
And about graphics, unlike the first modern vibe, the second one has more hard scifi vibe, if that thing puts you off (which is also stupid due to second game taking place literally after global blackout).
And also this game has GUI more made for consoles than for PC.
And also the second game is very bad technically made. For example the game restarts after every map change. And tends to crash a lot sometimes.
I´ll try to sum it up in this way: If you want to play corridor shooter with RPG elements, but dumbed down, then you may play Invisible war. But if you want to instead play real successor of first Deus Ex, you should instead play some total conversion mods, such as The nameless mod, Nihilium, etc. Or check Deus Ex: Human revolution.
Personally, I've always found it fun when I've played. Its a different game, it has a different feel, but in the end it expands upon the lore, and that's why I play Deus Ex. Plus, you hold the baton in a fist and punch people da f--- out. So, points for that. I say play it
Still makes it one of the best games out there.
By the way, you should install the unofficial patch and read the wiki for some fix to make it totally compatible with new hardwares and os.
